After careful consideration, Grace Spitzer-Wong has been chosen as the lucky winner!

Grace has demonstrated a strong commitment and vision and their aspirations align with our mission of disability inclusion.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to all the phenomenal applicants who showcased their passion. The standard of entries was exceptionally high and every single person brought a new and different vision and talent.

Alt text isn't a joke, so don't treat it like one.

If you're on Twitter, you might have seen a new meme floating around where people - including massive brands like McDonald's - tweet a picture that says "click here" and directs the viewer to the image's alt text, where instead of describing what the image is, they've put a joke or punchline.

Alt text is really important for people who use screen readers because it conveys what's in an image through text, ensuring they can understand its meaning and context. That's why it's so important to be descriptive in alt text, so that the person reading it can understand the nuances of the image: would you rather know that it's a picture of Lil Nas X at the Met Gala, or a description of him in a thong, painted silver, covered in jewels and wearing prosthetic teeth that make him look a bit like a cat?

Misusing the alt text function for the "click here" meme means there's always someone left out of the joke, and often, it's the people who need alt text the most.
