Cosgrove Wellness Coffee Hub

Andrea has been running the Cosgrove Wellness for five years now, running fortnightly on Friday mornings 10.30 -12.15 Andrea is an incredible volunteer providing a warm and welcoming space where people can enjoy tea, Andrea's home-made scones, fun outings such as Troon, Largs, garden centres; Garnethill Archives, The Burrell Collection and visitor guest speakers with a focus on wellbeing. The group welcomes new members to join them.

“It is so rewarding for me to see the ladies' confidence and enthusiasm grow, and friendships blossom within the group. I’m driven by those in the Jewish community who may feel isolated, lonely and struggling with their mental health. We can provide transport to attend if this is needed. At our wellness hub everyone is heard and can enjoy a sense of belonging. It’s a space to share interests and heritage within the Jewish culture and we celebrate all the Chagims.
- Andrea Fox, Volunteer

“I’ve been going to the Cosgrove hub for about four years and met so many lovely people, Andrea is a great person who organises things perfectly. I look forward to Fridays to meet my friends, have a cake or two, plenty of tea and a good blether. I used to be very quiet, now I have gained my confidence and come out of my shell”.

As we celebrate this year’s Volunteers’ Week, we would like to pay tribute to one of Cosgrove’s truly remarkable volunteers, Dr Jon Oates, who is deeply missed. His contributions to Cosgrove will be forever cherished.
Here, Lauren, our Volunteer Coordinator, shares a heartfelt tribute highlighting the invaluable work Jon did for Cosgrove. https://www.cosgrovecare.org.uk/news/tribute-to-dr-jon-oates/

A big thank you to our dedicated Volunteer Befrienders for giving their time to enriching the lives of the adults we support, sharing everyday activities: going for a coffee; a walk in the park; an outing to the cinema, theatre, shops, library; a game of cards; arts & crafts.

''At the beginning I didn't realise how much I would personally get out of being a volunteer befriender. Not only have I made a great friend, but I have also seen the difference I have made to someone else's life. This role has not only increased my confidence but also my communication skills. For the small amount of time I give on a fortnightly basis, I do not see a better way of spending my free time than giving it to someone else in need of some company.''

We're currently looking for volunteer befrienders and would like to hear from people who can give a couple of hours weekly or fortnightly. This volunteering role is subject to a Disclosure Scotland PVG check and two satisfactory references.

Anna volunteers with our Monday wellbeing group.

A big thank you to Anna and to all our wonderful Adult Services Groups volunteer activity assistants for encouraging and supporting the attendees to have fun, engage, and generally make the most of their time in the groups and for helping ensure things run smoothly! ⭐

"Volunteers are essential to any activity. They add an extra level to the class experience for the participants. Not only do many hands make light work for set up and clear up but the individual help and participation is so valuable for everyone taking part".

- Susan Kennedy, Art Group Facilitator.

A BIG THANK YOU TO EDDIE OUR
WONDERFUL CAR MAINTENANCE VOLUNTEER

Eddie is our long standing, outstanding dedicated car maintenance volunteer, who keeps a watchful eye over our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they're well maintained! He takes pride in what he does and shows kindness and a true willingness to go above and beyond for others. It's an important role, our vehicles are an essential resource, enabling the children and adults we support to get out and about in the community and to attend medical appointments.

– Lauren Jarvis, Volunteer Coordinator.

“I really enjoy volunteering. I’m retired and looking after the Cosgrove vehicles keeps me active, provides a welcome routine and gets me out the house no matter the weather! I also enjoy the variety of people I meet through volunteering with Cosgrove”
- Eddie, Cosgrove Car Maintenance Volunteer

We are incredibly grateful and truly overwhelmed by the fantastic support we received from our local community at our Michael Bublé Tribute concert last Thursday evening.

A heartfelt thank you to ‘Michael’ and his band for an unforgettable performance, to Loks Bar & Kitchen for the beautiful meal and to our amazing staff and volunteers who made the night possible.

We are also deeply appreciative of our sponsors, Inverarity Morton, Silvercloud, Holmes Mackillop and Aldomak. We simply could not do this without your generosity and support.

A special thank you as well to the local businesses who generously donated our raffle prizes, your support is greatly appreciated.

To everyone who attended, we hope you had a fantastic evening, and thank you for continually supporting Cosgrove Care.

THANK YOU! ✨
