🎙️Skin & Within podcast ⏬

https://pod.link/1742988649 As many skincare products in today's market contain some rather questionable ingredients we saw the need to create products which are 100% natural. We do not use parabens, sulphates or any artificial fragrances or colouri

ngs. We do not use preservatives, instead we use vitamin E which naturally preserves our products where necessary and we do not test on animals. As we become more conscious of what we put INTO our body, Ermana's ethos is to show as much concern for what we put ON our body. The skin is our largest organ so we should take care of it as well as we do our other organs. Ermana oils and balms are made from a rich blend of botanical oils and waxes which are packed with natural vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants, omega oils and fatty acids which are essential to keep the skin hydrated and nourished. All Ermana products are hand blended in small batches to ensure they are as fresh as possible.

It’s Wellbeing Wednesday, and today I want to highlight a growing trend called Cosmeticorexia.
Children as young as 8, 9 and 10 are following complex skincare routines, using products designed for ageing skin and becoming increasingly focused on perceived flaws.
Many are using ingredients such as retinol, exfoliating acids and anti-wrinkle products despite having healthy, young skin that simply doesn’t need them.
The concern isn’t just skin damage.
It’s the message that children receive: that they need to fix, perfect or prevent ageing before they’ve even reached their teenage years.
Research suggests that social media, influencer culture and beauty marketing are contributing to appearance anxiety at increasingly younger ages.
Skincare should support skin health, not create stress, obsession or fear.
As parents, grandparents, educators and role models, we need to encourage children to see skincare as a form of health and self-care—not self-criticism.
I’ve written a new blog exploring what Cosmeticorexia is, why experts are concerned and what we can do about it.
Read the full article via the link in my bio.

Have you noticed this trend among the young people in your life?

Tinned sardines and mackerel are nutritional powerhouses that support skin health from within.
Why they’re worth adding to your shopping list:
✨ Rich in omega-3 fats that help support the skin barrier
✨ High in protein, providing the building blocks needed for collagen production
✨ Source of vitamin D, important for skin and immune health
✨ Contain selenium, an antioxidant mineral that helps protect cells from oxidative stress
✨ Packed with vitamin B12 and other nutrients that support healthy cell function
A healthy skin barrier is one of the most important foundations for glowing skin. When the barrier is functioning well, skin is better able to retain moisture and protect itself from external stressors.
Easy ways to enjoy them:
🥗 Add to salads
🥔 Top a baked potato
🥑 Serve on sourdough toast
🍝 Stir through pasta
🥙 Add to grain bowls
Glowing skin isn’t just about skincare. It’s about nourishing your body too.

This morning’s breakfast meeting is at WilsonStreetPantry — the same place I held Ermana’s launch party 11 years ago. I don’t think that’s a coincidence, I think that’s a reminder of how far things have come.

If you’re dreaming about going out on your own, take this as your sign. Working for yourself is terrifying and completely worth it. Bet on yourself. 🙌

It’s Pakistani Mango season🥭 and this delicious fruit is packed with nutrients that support healthy skin from the inside out.
They’re rich in vitamin C, which helps your body produce collagen, the protein that keeps skin looking firm and plump.
Mangoes also contain beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A supports skin cell turnover and helps maintain the skin barrier.
Plus, mangoes provide antioxidants called polyphenols that help protect skin cells from oxidative stress caused by pollution, UV exposure and everyday life.
Think of mangoes as skincare you can eat — nourishing your skin while supporting your overall health.
I’ve added mine to overnight oats so

1 ripe mango
Handful of blackberries
2 tbsp oats
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp flaxseeds
2 tbsp Greek yogurt
2 tbsp of kefir

Plant Points = 4
Fibre = 13g
Protein = 10 g

Your skin is intelligent.
It’s connected to your hormones, nervous system, gut health, stress levels, sleep and overall wellbeing. Which means skin changes are often messages — not random inconveniences to fight against.
We live in a culture that encourages us to immediately “fix” every skin issue with another product, another treatment or another trend.
But constantly suppressing symptoms without asking why they’re happening can keep us disconnected from what our body actually needs.
Skin can often be the first warning sign that something is out of balance internally.
Instead of only asking:
“What should I put on my skin?”
Try asking:
“What is my body asking for right now?”
Sometimes your skin needs skincare.
Sometimes it needs support, rest, nourishment and regulation too.

The skin barrier and gut microbiome have more in common than you might think.
Both are intelligent protective systems designed to keep the outside world out and the good things in.
When we constantly disrupt them with harsh ingredients, over-cleansing, over-exfoliation or excessive actives, they often respond with irritation and inflammation.
At Ermana, I take the same approach to skin as I do to gut health.
Support rather than suppress.
Nourish rather than strip.
Work with the body’s natural processes rather than against them.
That’s why Revive Face Oil is packed with skin-compatible plant oils that help replenish and support the skin barrier, allowing it to do what it was designed to do.
Healthy skin isn’t created by overpowering it.
It’s created by supporting it.
