I totally wish someone had explained anxiety to me all those years ago

Not just “try to relax” or “don’t worry so much" or silence!
But what anxiety actually is

That it was my nervous system trying to protect me
That the racing thoughts, the overthinking, the constant “what ifs” weren't a failure

So much shame can come from not understanding what’s happening inside your own mind and body!

Education can turn “what’s wrong with me?” into
“oh… this makes so much sense.”

I keep a “calm toolkit” ready. Not in a box, but in habits!
Just some of the things I find help me 💕
Some are always and some I pick and choose 🤪

Consistency is the key...
Building these types of habits help to automate behaviour
Habits create predictability and our nervous system loves predictability

Predictability = Safety 🥰

When anxiety spikes, it can feel like you’re trapped inside your thoughts, your head

One helpful technique is intentionally creating a little distance.

Instead of being inside the worry, imagine stepping outside yourself and looking in.

Picture yourself sitting there, anxious.
Notice your breathing. Your posture.
The thoughts running through your mind — as if you’re watching a character in a movie.

That small shift creates space.

You’re no longer the anxiety.
You’re the one noticing it.

And from that place, it’s often easier to respond with clarity and compassion 💖
