Are your employees actually getting the hearing protection you think they are?
Providing hearing protection is only the first step. The protection achieved in practice can vary significantly from one person to another, depending on how the earplug is fitted, the wearer’s technique and the suitability of the product.
The hearing protection fit test system that we are considering adding to our services, allows us to measure the level of protection achieved by each individual wearer.
The system can help employers to:
✅ Measure the wearer’s actual level of attenuation
✅ Identify poor or inconsistent fitting techniques
✅ Check whether the selected hearing protection is suitable
✅ Educate employees through practical, individual training
✅ Reduce the risks associated with under-protection and over-protection
✅ Create a documented record of the protection achieved
Two employees may wear the same earplugs—but receive very different levels of protection.
Hearing protection fit testing replaces assumptions with measurable evidence, helping businesses make better-informed decisions while giving employees greater confidence in the equipment they rely on.
RPE2Fit is currently assessing interest in adding hearing protection fit testing to our range of occupational safety services.
