🎙️ WALKING THE WALK TO TALKING THE TALK 🎙️
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to teach and share my knowledge with other dentists, but this one felt a little different.
Speaking at the Clyde Munro Conference about the patient journey gave me the opportunity to speak to the people who shape that journey at every stage: reception teams, dental nurses, TCOs, managers, clinicians and the wider dental team.
And it’s a subject that means a lot to me, because I’ve genuinely walked the walk.
I started my career in dentistry on reception, before working as a dental nurse, TCO, dental technician, dental therapist and eventually qualifying as a dentist. I’ve seen the patient journey from almost every side of the practice and one thing has become increasingly clear:
Exceptional dentistry is never delivered by one person.
A beautiful smile may be the part I photograph, but the patient’s experience started long before they sat in the chair. It’s built through every phone call, every welcome, every reassuring conversation, every handover and every member of the team who makes someone feel that they are genuinely being looked after.
Being able to teach dentists is something I’m hugely grateful for, but having the opportunity to lecture to and hopefully inspire the whole dental team felt particularly special.
Because when every person understands the impact they can have on a patient’s experience, that’s when good dental care becomes exceptional. 🦷✨
Thank you Clyde Munro Dental Group for giving me the platform to tell that story and to every member of the dental team who makes a patient’s journey better, often without ever realising just how much of a difference they made. 🦷✨
