Killearn 10k yesterday. I love this race! šŸ’•
Great to see so many Bella buddies & to be back on the trails again.
When I signed up for this back in December, I was recovering from a plantar plate tear. I was finally starting to feel good after 6 months of no running & thought I’d definitely be ready for this by June. It was painful to walk, to do downward dog & to stand on my tippy toes when it first happened. I had started run/walking again but got overexcited & over did it over Christmas & New Year & set myself back. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø
But I’ve been focussing on weight training & building up my strength & I think that held me in good stead yesterday. I may have been slow but I felt good & I felt strong. That’s something your watch is never going to tell you.

Thanks to the race organisers & volunteers for putting on another fantastic event & thanks to & for keeping me fit & strong.

Had another great weekend away with Queen’s Park Athletics Club on Arran a few weeks ago.

Had a go at ’s infamous paarlauf & went for some gorgeous walks as I’m recovering from an injury.

Loved doing yoga with these guys too. This bunch works hard & trains hard & I felt it was important to give them the opportunity to slow down, do some gentle movement & rest.

Suffering from brain fog? 🤯 Low mood? šŸ˜” Lack of energy? 😓

Here’s a crackin’ mood-boosting salad for you!

With plenty of protein & a hit of omega-3s, there’s so much goodness in this pretty pink & green salad, you’ll want to get it on your lunchbox rotation for sure.

**Pasta salad with salmon, edamame, spinach & beetroot**

You’ll need-

200g wholemeal fusilli
2 salmon fillets
1 cup frozen edamame soy beans
1 vacuum pack beetroot, diced
1/2 - 3/4 large bag baby spinach, chopped
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 heaped teaspoons wholegrain mustard
1 lemon, halved

✨Preheat oven to 180C.

✨Prepare salmon on a baking tray. Squeeze over juice of half a lemon & season with sea salt & cracked black pepper. Bake in oven for 20 minutes.

✨While salmon is in the oven, make the pasta. Cook for 6 minutes then add the edamame to the cooking water for the last 4 minutes.

✨Dice the beetroot & roughly chop the spinach.

✨Shake up the mayo, mustard & juice of the other 1/2 of lemon in a jar along with some sea salt & cracked black pepper.

✨Drain the pasta & beans then tip them into a large serving bowl. Toss the beetroot & spinach through the pasta. Flake the salmon onto the mixture, pour over the dressing then fold them through the salad.

This keeps me going for **hours**! And keeps me feeling good for the rest of the day.

A hearty, healthy breakfast like this with its combination of protein, slow release carbs, fibre & healthy fat really does set you up for the day.

If you find you’re having a morning slump, try this out. šŸ‘‡

šŸŒPeanut Butter Banana PorridgešŸ’

1ļøāƒ£ 1/3c jumbo oats, 1 tsp chia seeds & 1 tsp ground flax seed cooked in 2/3c unsweetened soy milk.

2ļøāƒ£ Stir in 1 tblsp peanut butter, 1 tsp cacao powder & 1 tsp maple syrup.

3ļøāƒ£ Top with sliced banana & a handful of defrosted frozen cherries.

Looking for a simple midweek dinner that also doubles up for lunch?

Add a pop of colour to your plate with this baked beetroot orzo. The lentils & walnuts are a good source of protein & your brain will appreciate the omega 3s from the walnuts.

🫜🫜BAKED BEETROOT ORZO🫜🫜

✨Bunch raw beetroot, topped, tailed & peeled (might want to wear gloves when prepping)

✨300g orzo

✨800mL veg stock

✨Packet microwaveable Puy lentils

✨Walnuts, toasted

✨Feta cheese, crumbled

Preheat oven to 200C. Grate the beetroot & toss into a large roasting tin. Add orzo, stock & lentils. Season with a couple of pinches sea salt & many grinds of black pepper. Stir to mix all ingredients.

Cook in oven for 25 min, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.

Serve topped with feta cheese & handful of walnuts.

Enjoy! šŸ˜‹

Hi everyone!

Can’t believe there’s only 1 week left of January! How’s 2026 going for you so far?

I’ve had some ups & downs this month but one of the best things I’ve done for myself is join Menoperformance classes. I’ve been struggling with a foot injury since July & haven’t been able to run. It’s tough when you can’t do what you love but I try to see the gift in my injuries & this is it! I’m absolutely loving working out with so many badass women who are saying yes to themselves & aren’t letting the challenges of midlife stop them. šŸ’Ŗ

I’m also really excited about what and I are planning for later this year. Watch this space! ✨
