Partnership matters when the work matters.

Thriving Survivors works across communities, services and organisations to support survivor led, trauma informed change.

That work is stronger when businesses, funders, charities, public bodies and community groups choose to stand alongside it.

Partnership does not always have to mean something complicated.

It can mean opening a door.
Making an introduction.
Sharing an opportunity.
Hosting a conversation.
Funding a piece of work.
Supporting an event.
Helping more people understand why trauma informed practice matters.

When organisations work together with care and purpose, we can reach more people and create wider change.

The words we use matter.
Language can make someone feel seen, safe and respected.

It can also make someone feel judged, blamed or shut down.

When working with people affected by trauma, abuse or harm, the smallest phrases can have a huge impact.

That is why trauma informed practice asks us to slow down and think about how we communicate.

Are we giving people choice?
Are we listening without judgement?
Are we avoiding blame?
Are we making space for people to explain what they need?
Are we recognising strength without dismissing pain?

Language alone will not solve everything, but it can shape whether someone feels able to engage, trust and access support.

And that matters.

Follow Thriving Survivors for more trauma informed insight and learning.

Healing is not a straight line.

Some days might feel lighter. Others might feel like a step back.

That does not mean someone is failing. It does not mean they are not trying. It does not mean the progress they have made has disappeared.

Healing can look quiet. It can look messy. It can look like rest, boundaries, asking for help or simply getting through the day.

For survivors, support should not come with pressure to “move on” by a certain date or fit into someone else’s version of recovery.

Everyone’s experience is different.

Everyone’s pace is different.

And everyone deserves support that recognises that.

Share this with someone who may need the reminder today.

10 Questions for Change: Health Inequalities with Catherine from Thriving Survivors
10 Questions for Change is a video podcast series from Thriving Survivors, hosted by I Am Jen Wilson, The Healing Rebel, created to open up honest, thoughtful and survivor-led conversations around the issues that matter most to our work.

Across 10 recorded episodes, we will explore 10 important areas connected to trauma, recovery, justice, prevention, education, lived experience and meaningful change.

In this episode, Jen is joined by Catherine from Thriving Survivors to discuss health inequalities.

Together, they explore how trauma, lived experience and wider social factors can impact access to health, support and recovery, and why it is so important to listen to those most affected when shaping services and systems.

At Thriving Survivors, we believe change happens when people are heard, when difficult topics are approached with care and when we create space for learning, reflection and action.

Watch, listen and join the conversation as we continue working towards a more informed, compassionate and trauma-responsive world.

Trauma informed practice is not about asking people to tell their story.

It is about creating spaces where people feel safer, respected and in control.

It is about understanding that trauma can affect how someone engages with services, relationships, decisions, trust and support.

It is about asking better questions.

Not “what is wrong with you?”
But “what has happened to you, and what do you need to feel supported?”

Being trauma informed does not mean getting everything perfect. It means being willing to learn, reflect and change how we respond.

Because the way people are treated when they reach out for support can make all the difference.

Change does not happen in isolation.

The work of Thriving Survivors is strengthened by every person, organisation and community partner who stands beside us.

Every shared post, every introduction, every conversation, every room we are invited into and every organisation willing to listen helps move this work forward.

Supporting survivors and creating trauma informed communities is not the responsibility of one organisation alone.

It takes people who are willing to learn.
It takes services willing to reflect.
It takes communities willing to care.
It takes partners willing to act.

To everyone who continues to support Thriving Survivors, thank you.

Your support helps us keep important conversations going and create meaningful change.

Restorative justice can offer meaningful opportunities for dialogue, accountability and healing, but it must be approached with care, skill and a strong understanding of trauma, safety and risk.

Our new Restorative Justice: Exploring Restorative Practice course offers learners the opportunity to build theoretical and practice-based knowledge to support the facilitation of restorative justice.

Over three classroom-based days, learners will explore restorative principles, practice methods, trauma informed approaches, practitioner wellbeing, UK guidance and the complexities that can arise when restorative justice is considered in sensitive cases.

The course is currently being assessed by Qualification Scotland and, on successful completion, accredited certificates would be issued for participants.

This training will take place at Thriving Survivors in Glasgow from Monday 8th to Wednesday 10th June 2026.

Spaces are now open.
