Friday afternoon session with Rebecca one of my amazing swimmers 🏊‍♂️

Today we finished with deadlifts.
Beautiful teachnique as always.

Her training load is high (in the pool this morning for training before school) and then 2 hours of 'long course' training tomorrow afternoon.

Strength training with Rebecca has never been about going as heavy as possible, we mostly work with moderate weights.

The goal is to directly strengthen the key muscles used in swimming and build her muscular endurance for longer swims (her forte)

This girl is flying just now and has big goals for the next year.

Awesome as always 👏

Weighted plank for Meryl and Slnead to finish off their second session of the week with me.

10kg weight plate for 2 sets of 45 seconds.

Adding a weight plate to a plank increases the intensity and creates a stronger core than bodyweight planks.

Having a bullet-proof core carries over into better technique in other exercises like squats, deadlifts and overhead presses.

If you are able to hold a perfect plank for 90 seconds then this is a good indicator that you are ready to try this advanced exercise.

Today's lunch for my little gymnast

Sushi (lidl sesame chicken dragon roll)
Raspberries
Cucumber
Plus a wee choc mini roll

She does 4.5 hours on a Wednesday night and then 4.5 on a thursday night so its so important she eats enough calories through the day on a thursday.

She will have a couple of pancakes with biscoff spread and banana after school before training.

Total calories today will be around 2500

Food is FUEL ⛽️

Ps. These wee meal prep tubs are excellent. Got them from amazon.

A strong core is crucial for every sport.

In gymnastics it helps with balance, creating strong shapes on the floor and mid-tumble and generating force under control.

I am working with 8 young athletes now across a range of sports from Irish dancing to athletics and core work features heavily in all of their sessions.

Summer is the time for fitness upgrades if there is a break in your competitive season 💪

Joint sessions work best when fitness levels are similar and goals are shared.

Courtney doing standing landmine rotations this morning.

This is such a good functional core exercise.
It trains your muscles to produce force when twisting which closely resembles everyday movements.

This means its less likely that you put your back out bending down to pick up washing or lifting a child out the bath.

It also creates super strong obliques and is way kinder to your lower back than normal 'crunches'

Just afew weeks til her holiday and this Mama is looking 🔥

As long as you dont rip it for days on end it doesn't have to derail your progress if you fell off the wagon a bit.

I am not expecting perfect weekends from all of my clients. The key is accountability - so own it and move forward into a fresh week.

Anyway happy monday!

No holiday here ❌️

Me - PT sessions all day and night
Lily - school then gymnastics 4pm-8.30pm

I actually prefer a busy monday.
Feels like I play catch up all week if im not working.

Less than 2 weeks til the schools finish up!
Time to get the heads down and finish strong going into holiday season!

Had the best time today running around Strathclyde Park doing 'Pretty Muddy' with Lily and her gymnastics friends.

What a solid team 👏

As the designated adult for the group I wasnt allowed to do the obstacles....which I was not sad about at all 🤣

Super proud of them all!
Determination absolutely ripping out them.

No snowflakes here ❄️

Great session with Mandy yesterday in the lead up to her Wedding.

We have been building for this since last summer. I cant believe her final dress fitting is next week

She has been warned by her seamstress to lose no more weight.

She is going to look unbelievable in her dress 😍

Nothing makes my PT heart sing like someone going 'all in' with their commitment to getting results.

My newest client is a 12 year old gymnast who has embraced her first two weeks of online Nutrition Coaching like a dream.

She is doing a lot of hours of training but her Mum felt she was probably not eating enough.

I worked out her calorie needs for the day and made her a plan based around her schedule amd suited to her own tastes.

In her end of week check in last week her Mum said she was feeling more energetic and had better stamina at training.

This wee champ also tracked her food on her own phone and made a BAR CHART to display the totals over the week.

I absolutely love this. She has taken everything ive suggested on board and is already noticing the difference.

Looking forward to hearing how she gets on over the weekend at her competition after a great week of fuelling.
