Good Morning dear Glastonbury community,
We would like to update you about our Blister Pack Recycling Programme and explain why we need to pause the service for now.
As many of you know, we are currently the only drop-off point offering blister pack recycling in this area—serving Glastonbury, Street, Somerton, and nearby villages. We are proud to support a greener community, and we deeply appreciate how many of you have taken part.
Why we must pause the programme
The recycling centre requires us to use their approved boxes for shipping blister packs.
Each box costs £110 for a 110-litre container, and based on the volume we receive, we need around 4 boxes every month.
This creates a significant ongoing financial cost, which has become difficult for us to sustain.
So far, we have already sent 11 boxes to the centre, and although we are happy to have helped divert so much waste, the cumulative cost has placed a considerable strain on our resources.
Looking ahead
We are actively exploring options to overcome the financial challenges involved.
Several people have kindly asked how they might support the initiative, and while we are not formally requesting anything at this stage, any form of community backing in the future could make it easier for us to bring the programme back.
It is important to us—and to many of you—that we continue supporting Green Glastonbury, and we truly hope to restart the recycling programme once a sustainable path forward is found.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and patience during this pause.
We will keep you updated with any new developments.
Warm regards,
Glastonbury Pharmacy
