After over 20 years of being a Primary school teacher and over 11 years of teaching music to babies and toddlers, I became one of the first fully qualified Mindful Monkeys®Better Together Practitioner in March '19 after doing the wonderful training course with Lesley, the founder of Mindful Monkeys®. I believe as a parent myself that we all do the best we can with the knowledge we have but it's al

ways good to be able to learn new things especially to help our children when we can see they are struggling with issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, fear of failure and big life changes. Through showing children how amazing they and their brains are, I can help them to see why they are struggling and why things can seem so tough at times. I can offer you and your child lots of tools and strategies to try out at home and hopefully they will help you to make differences to your whole family and lead to more positive family connections. The programme is for children aged 5 - 12 and can be delivered through 1 - 1 sessions with one parent and one child or as a group programme in a school taking between 4 - 6 parents with a child each.

As some of you know, I was bereaved many years ago when my husband died suddenly leaving me with 2 school aged children. I found it very helpful to talk to others who had been through a similar experience to me and later it lead to me working with bereaved adults and children. I enjoy the opportunity to offer them support and to help them to deal with their losses. I have now started to offer a listening service for adults who have been bereaved and the first half hour session would be free as it is for parents who are interested in my listening service for them. There is no obligation to continue after the free session but hopefully if you find it helpful, you will be happy to come back for paid sessions. What do you feel you need to enable you to help your child when they are struggling with something? I wonder if it might be having someone to listen to you who isn't directly involved. If this sounds like something that would help you, I am offering a FREE face to face listening session with no obligation to sign up to any more. However if you find it helpful and realise it could be beneficial for you and your child, you can sign up and come along for as many sessions as you wish to have. It is not counselling, just listening and I would only make suggestions if you were open to them. It's nearly the Easter holidays and I hope you will all find some time during the next fortnight to connect as a family and have fun. If during a conversation with your child, you realise there is something they are struggling with, let them know you are there for them and that there are lots of things that you can do together to help. Maybe by just talking and finding out more about their feelings, you will find a solution but if you feel you need a little more support, please get in touch to find out what I can offer. We can have a chat on the phone with no obligation to take things any further. Once we have had a conversation then we can decide together whether we feel that Mindful Monkey sessions would be helpful for your child.

I hope you came up with some ways to make up with someone you have had an argument with. Maybe you can try it out the next time it happens to you.
Today many of the people we connect with are online, either on our phones or other screens. It's so important though to have contact with people face to face just like you are now all doing daily as a family. Maybe discuss today how you can make contact face to face with more people next week and see if you can keep a count of them all. Then at the end of the week you can see who has had the most face to face contacts and also how they compared to your online contacts.

Today let's think about ways to feel calm. Sometimes things can just be a little chaotic or busy and we need to find a way to feel calm. Can you come up with some different ways and then try them out. Do they all work for you or only some of them?
