Let’s talk about non-stop chattering/nonsense chatter that our children may do. It may present as endless questions, facts, and chatter that children share with us to be seen, to be heard, to process what’s going on in their minds, and to connect with others who are a significant part of their life.
Sometimes this happens daily, and it's a developmentally appropriate way for the child to connect; parents can embrace it to build those attachments and help them make sense of their world.
Also, for some children who show signs of developmental trauma and possibly function at a younger age emotionally, it can be a survival behaviour which helps keep them safe. They are communicating to you, “Look at me, I am here, don’t forget me”. However, constant nonsense chatter can be intense to manage day to day.
We thought the description below sums it up well!
