We have signed up to support 'Wear it Pink for October' to raise awareness for Breast Cancer, and we would love everyone to join in!

Breast Cancer doesn’t discriminate and can affect everyone. People with learning disabilities, men and women, can often get overlooked if we don’t provide support and education to ensure that they are checking for any changes to their bodies.

We are holding our “Wear it Pink” day on the 15th October and we would like to invite as many people to join in with the day and hopefully raise some money for the charity, but more importantly, awareness for the people we support!

If any areas have an interest in their own day – the official day for wear it Pink for October this year is Friday 23rd October. We would love you to join us over this time and support Breast Cancer Now .

🌍 World Mental Health Day | Saturday 10 October

This World Mental Health Day, we’re proud to champion the voices, experiences and expertise of the people we support.

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change”, reflects something we believe in every day: people with lived experience must be listened to, valued and involved in shaping the support they receive.

We value the insight, knowledge and understanding our Experts by Experience bring. Their contributions help us challenge assumptions, shape more compassionate services and create support that reflects what truly matters to the people we work alongside.

💚 This World Mental Health Day, let’s go beyond raising awareness. Let’s listen, learn and take action, because every voice matters, every experience has value, and being heard can be the beginning of real change.

Following a comprehensive induction and specialist training, our new colleagues have come together as a close-knit team. By combining their expertise, skills and learning, they are supporting the people we work with, through a smooth transition, building trusted relationships and preparing everyone for the move into their new homes.

It’s an exciting new chapter, founded on teamwork, trust and person-centred support.

When we say each person’s journey to their new home is unique, we mean it.

Two years of preparatory support and transition came to fruition in July for a person we support to move into their own home. We have been working alongside them taking the time to understand their unique support needs and ensuring they were fully involved in the plan for their move and took things at their own pace.

After many, many years in hospital, supporting someone to feel totally included and immersed in the creation of their home and their support, is essential. A successful transition takes time, care and skill, and this thoughtful approach has helped ensure their support is truly person-centred and their move is as smooth and seamless as possible.

Thank you to all the team across Business Development and the new Operational Team in Staffordshire, who have moved mountains to work as a complete collaborative team, ensuring the success of this move.

🧡 We’re wearing orange to show our support for The Care Workers’ Charity! 🧡

Today, our Board, Operations and People teams are proud to be wearing orange in support of The Care Workers’ Charity Wear It Orange campaign.

The Care Workers’ Charity has been our charity partner since 2022 and we’re delighted to stand alongside an organisation that provides vital support to care workers when they need it most. Working in health and social care is incredibly rewarding, but we also know that those who dedicate their careers to supporting others can face challenges of their own.

For us, Wear It Orange is a simple but meaningful way to recognise the incredible contribution of care workers and help raise awareness of the support available to them. 🧡

A huge thank you to everyone from Aspirations Care and Elysian Capital for getting involved, adding a splash of orange, and helping us show our support!

We are proud to invest in our team with the training they need to fully support the people they support. Our induction training is comprehensive, exceeding the Skills for Care standards, with mandatory refresher training and bespoke training for the specific needs of people we support built into our training schedule. If needed, we also use external trainers with specific skills to support the knowledge of our teams.

As part of the training for one of our services that are due to open, support from an external communications trainer specialising in Makton was sought. She was very impressed with the team and said:

“Several of the team stood out…

D has a little girl who is deaf, although they use BSL you could see he was passionate about making communication more visual and accessible for those who have difficulty accessing spoken language.

S showed great recall with both signs and symbols and M seemed enthusiastic to embed it, and has had experience embedding symbols in a school setting previously.

I would certainly recommend these three go on to attend Level 3 and 4 or the Safeguarding workshop and lead on embedding Makaton in their settings.”

Well done team for being so engaged and passionate about learning new skills and making communication easier for the people you work with!

This project in Cheshire has been over 5 years in the making, and we are so proud of the result!

When we create a bespoke environment for a person, a collaborative team design everything, brick by brick, tailored to that persons’ needs and wishes. All this is done with the person at the centre of all those discussions and plans.

As we welcome young adults into their first home away from the family home or education, it's such an honour to be part of those first steps and experiences.
Thank you to our Business Development and Operational Team for making this happen, alongside the most supportive developer and housing partner!

At Aspirations we invest in our staff through continued professional development. E has recently completed her NVQ and had this to say:

‘The course provided a valuable opportunity to consolidate and strengthen my existing knowledge. It helped me recognise that I can often be overly critical of my own abilities, and it encouraged me to view my skills with greater confidence and perspective. This shift in mindset has already had a positive impact on my professional development, enabling me to approach my work with improved self-assurance and clarity.

L’s support played a significant role in this. Throughout the course, she was consistently encouraging, approachable, and constructive in her feedback. Her guidance created an environment where I felt comfortable asking questions, reflecting honestly, and stretching my capabilities.

As a result, I am better equipped to deliver high quality support in my role. The course not only reinforced my technical understanding but also enhanced my confidence, which in turn strengthens the quality and consistency of the support I am able to provide.’

Moving into your first home, from your family home, is a huge step towards your journey into adulthood, not just for those we support, but for their families too.

Recently, 3 young people we have been working alongside for many months, made the leap into their new homes in Cheshire.

Families have been central to all stages of these moves; this includes setting up their loved one’s new homes.

A huge thank you to the Business Development Team members Arron Townsend, Hannah Brown and Angela Crisp, who have all gone over and above to ensure the young people could move in, supporting the Operational Team.
