The thing about Yin Yoga is that it doesn't matter about the shape of the pose.
It's about how it feels. You are not looking around you, you are looking inside and determining how it feels.
You adapt the pose to suit how it feels to you. There are many different variations of just one pose and because you are holding it for a long time, you get to decide how you want to be in it. And if you're not comfortable in a pose, we find an alternative.
The pose is held for about 3 to 5 minutes. And as you are targeting the connective tissue, not necessarily muscle, you are completely still in a pose, which allows you feel deeper Ito it.
Yin is the soft side of yoga, and it's up to you whether you want to challenge yourself, relax into it or not do much at all. Your teacher will not 'make' you do anything. It is a safe place to just be.
