Being in charge of your own and your family’s health can be daunting at times. You know that your local GP will help with major illnesses but you don’t want to disturb him with minor ailments. You might also prefer to use gentle remedies whilst a GP will often prescribe antibiotics, steroids or other remedies which are all with side-effects.
When can you use homeopathic remedies?
As long as the symptoms to treat are not alarming, a cough, cold, flu, earache, fever, diarrhoea, chicken pox and much more can be helped by homeopathic remedies without the need to call in the medics.
On the other hand, diseases of long duration like asthma, eczema, allergies, hyperactivity, chronic infections or chronic digestive disorders are better dealt with by booking an appointment with a qualified homeopath.
How can you self-prescribe?
Prescribing homeopathic remedies is not based on a diagnosis but on the symptoms experienced or observed, e.g. a sore throat that is better during the day but worse at night, the intensity of a fever and whether it is accompanied by redness in the face, a cough that is loose in the morning but dry at night, or a cough that only happens at night, a pain that is better for pressure, a joint that is painful on first movement but better for continued gentle movement… all these symptoms call for specific homeopathic remedies which can be easily selected using a prescribing guide.
If you would like to learn more about how to prescribe homeopathic remedies, do join my self-prescribing course which is taking place of Saturday 23rd May 10am-4pm at Surrey Holistic.
