Robertson Nursing Home provides a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere within its countryside surroundings and the village of Hurtmore on the doorstep. The home is within easy reach of Godalming, a historic market town offering many attractions and amenities. Robertson Nursing Home is a historic Tudor building which has been carefully renovated to accommodate the needs of our residents, but without losing its traditional charm. The building is surrounded by landscaped gardens, the perfect venue for an afternoon stroll or some refreshments in the sunshine, however our residents and visitors wish to enjoy some time outdoors.

Our team have been excitedly watching the progress of the construction of the new Robertson building as the walls have gone up, the roof installed, and our new home truly starts to take shape. 🏠

We recently took some team members for a look inside the new building so they could see the progress up close. Everyone was very interested to get a feel for the new layout and explore the spacious rooms, imagining how it will feel to walk around the home when it is fully complete and our residents have moved in.

The entire team are very excited to settle into their new workspace and for the residents to be welcomed into their new home. As the completion date gets closer, it is getting easier to imagine how fantastic it will be to spend our days in the new building, and we can’t wait to share the final results of this journey with you all when we open the doors.

The theme of this year’s campaign for World Values Day is ‘Values and Volunteering’, encouraging people to volunteer their time to put their values into action to help make the world a better place. We have been delighted to welcome some fantastic volunteers to our homes to help with activities, provide musical entertainment, or just to spend some time chatting to our residents. We know how valuable these experiences with volunteers have been for our residents and the difference they have made by giving their time to brighten our residents’ days.

It feels like autumn has snuck up on us, and although the weather is getting chillier and we have plenty of fun autumn plans ahead, it is still nice to look back on what was a lovely summer at Robertson Nursing Home. ☀️

Summer at the home looked a bit different this year, with exciting construction progress taking place in our back garden, so our usual family and friends summer party couldn’t take place. But that didn’t stop us celebrating summer in true Robertson Nursing Home style with a summer party for our residents.

Everyone had a lot of fun at the party and greatly enjoyed the musical entertainment, decorations, and refreshments, which were provided by our kitchen team. Although it may not have been our usual big outdoor event, it was lovely for our residents to have a more intimate party and get to still celebrate summer with their friends at the home.

We know next year there will be lots of exciting events and celebrations to look forward to in our brand-new building and we are all very excited for this. But until then, we will enjoy making memories and sharing these special moments in our current home.

How can we support better mental health within care? Today is World Mental Health Day, and at Beritaz Care we are continuously striving to support the mental health of our residents, staff, and those in our wider community, including the family and friends of our residents.

From creating a living and working environment where people feel safe and comfortable to supporting residents to live with a sense of independence, and promoting activities that help residents to feel part of a community, supporting better mental health is a key factor in everyday life at our homes. The changes and improvements taking place across our homes are all there to create a better lifestyle for our residents, making sure they have everything they need to support their physical and mental wellbeing, however that looks for each individual.

Our person-centred approach to care means our residents feel respected and heard, knowing they can always talk to someone about anything on their mind. We understand how important it is for everyone to feel comfortable having conversations about mental health, and that is something we encourage and support for every member of the Beritaz Care family.

The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day campaign is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change. Conversations about mental health make a difference. And they matter most when we listen to people’s experiences.”

It’s been a busy few months for the residents in our homes as they made the most of the sunshine and enjoyed the final days of summer. ☀️ Whether they were enjoying days out on the minibus, celebrating with friends and family, or welcoming special visitors to the home, our residents have had a lot of fun taking part in group activities and seasonal events.

Today is the National Day of Arts in Care Homes, so we thought we would take this opportunity to show off our own gallery of some of our residents’ brilliant artistic creations! 🎨🖼️

Within our homes, our residents love to take part in artistic activities, trying out different mediums and finding new ways to express their creativity. Not only are these activities very fun, but our residents also find it very relaxing and therapeutic to spend time doing something creative. Our residents are always proud to see their finished pieces displayed around the home.

There are many other ways our residents enjoy embracing the arts, from playing music to flower arranging, writing poetry and dancing, we are always encouraging residents to find different outlets for their creativity that speak to them.

Creativity and the arts have a very important place within the care industry and play a big part in life for our residents at Beritaz Care homes. We frequently see the many fantastic benefits that exploring the arts has for our residents’ wellbeing. The arts provide both a creative and emotional outlet for our residents and welcome all levels and abilities.

At Beritaz Care, we are huge advocates of making creative activities accessible to residents within care homes, just a little encouragement and inspiration can have a big impact on the wellbeing of people in later-life care. We are delighted to announce that Robertson Nursing Home has been named as a finalist in the 2026 Surrey Care Awards! ⭐

⭐️ Robertson Nursing Home is a finalist for both the ‘Nursing Home of the Year’ award and the ‘Team of the Year’ award.

It is a very proud moment to have our home and staff members nominated in multiple categories for this year’s Surrey Care Awards. With so many fantastic organisations working in the Surrey care sector, we are honoured to have been recognised and included in the shortlist for this year’s awards.

Congratulations also go to our Beritaz Care sister home, Springkell House Care Home who are finalists in the ‘Nursing Home of the Year’ and ‘Team of the Year’ categories, and have a team member nominated for the ‘Excellence in Residential Care Practice’ award.

This is a very special moment for the entire Robertson team, who have truly come together over the past year to support the exciting improvements and changes happening at the home, all for the benefit of our residents.

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day. A campaign spearheaded by the Alzheimer's Society to spread awareness and encourage support for those impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

We are long-term supporters of the Alzheimer’s Society and the brilliant work they do to help families impacted by dementia, as well as the research studies they undertake.

Team members from across our homes are passionate about doing their part through various fundraising activities in support of the Alzheimer’s Society and the work they do. From braving the elements to train to take on sponsored walk challenges, to hosting their own cake sales at the homes, our team members have gone above and beyond to support this cause that means so much to all of us at Beritaz Care.

Alzheimer’s has a huge impact on people throughout the world, including many of the residents of our homes. Understanding the challenges faced by individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia is the first step to providing them with the support they need to live happily and comfortably.
