York is introducing a Guaranteed Wheelchair Passenger Scheme.

If a wheelchair user is unable to board a bus because the wheelchair space is already occupied by another wheelchair user, they will be able to arrange a free taxi to their destination within York city boundaries.

This scheme is designed to ensure wheelchair users are not left stranded when accessible spaces on buses are unavailable.

This scheme is to be rolled out very soon! I will update as soon as it’s launched 🚀

Accessibility isn’t always about building new facilities. Sometimes it’s about finding practical solutions that remove barriers and help people travel with greater confidence, independence and dignity.

As our page continues to grow, I want to use it not only to campaign for change but also to share information that may genuinely help disabled people and their families.
