‘I’ll just be 20 mins babes’
2 hours later….. 😂

I took a trip over to Vogrie Park at the weekend to take some photos and then stayed because it just felt so good being with the trees and listening to the birds!

I forgot the others things I had to do (which weren’t really that urgent after all) and took some space in my day for me.

I’m glad I did and I slept better that night.

The hardest part sometimes is giving ourself permission.

Head Outside on Thursday evening this week, 6-7:30pm is time away from the busy-ness. Breathe, stretch, reflect, slow down and chill.

If you want to join me you can find out more or book here (or message me☺️):

A wee bit about HEAD OUTSIDE session next week at Vogrie Park

I’m keeping it super simple, because life is busy and complicated enough that we don’t need to add to it!

This is space where we slow things down, take a breath and enjoy being in nature.
It’s time away from the decision making and doing and needing to think.
And a place towards the end of the week to wind down towards the weekend.

No complicated movement, but just what the body and system need, and some guided reflection to ponder or journal on. And time with like minded people.

All bodies and neurotypes welcome.

Thursday 25th June
6-7pm

Been writing again….

THE STRENGTH OF BECOMING YOURSELF

“When we talk about becoming ourself, we tend to focus on what we are gaining: more confidence, better boundaries, greater self-awareness, increased authenticity. I often feel that this comes with an assumption of expansion and maybe also ease.

Yes, I would say that this is true. But. What we tend not to also talk about is where personal growth can come with friction and grief. And that this is a necessary part of the process……

…. They can bring about some of the deepest shifts within ourself - yet when they happen it can feel like the very opposite. It can feel easier to shy away, but doing so may inhibit the times when we find a greater steadiness in ourself.“

Thank you for some of the lovely comments I’ve had about my blogs. It can feel like they’re going into a vacuum sometimes so it’s always really nice to hear when what I’ve written lands with someone 💕

🌿HEAD OUTSIDE is a small outdoor group session of grounding, gentle movement and quiet reflection.

It’s simple, spacious and unhurried -because what most of need right now isn’t more stuff, but more space.

We’ll meet in the beautiful surroundings of Vogrie Park, settle in, slow down and tune in to the fresh air and nature.

The movement is, again, nothing complicated, but just what the body and breath need to feel some more ease and lightness.

There’ll be some guided reflection - with no pressure to share.

You can hand decision making over to me for 90 mins and let your body and mind breathe.

🌿THURSDAY 25th JUNE
📍VOGRIE COUNTRY PARK, GOREBRIDGE
6 - 7:30pm
£20

This is a blog that I’ve been wanting to write for AGES!! There are so many layers to this, and almost impossible to do justice to in one blog post.

It’s so easy to get caught up in narratives that our capacity is a direct measure of our capability. Or that if we have the capacity then we ‘should’ be doing things we’re capable of with it.

Behind these narratives are our personal histories, the environments we were brought up in or are still navigating through.

And then there are the systems that tell us how to maximise our capacity or capabilities - the quick fixes to success, happiness and ‘having it all’.

Let’s take a moment to remember that we are all human beings navigating systems and stories.

Hello June ☀️

It’s a bit of a transition month for me - I’m taking some travel time to attend a wedding in mid-June before then having my summer holiday at the end of the month.

🗓️ Because of that, my diary has some space available for:

▪️Anyone looking for 1 or 2 sessions to work through a specific issue that’s on your mind right now
▪️Returning clients who want a check in or to pick things up for a couple of sessions
▪️Anyone looking for regular counselling who is happy to begin now, take a two week break, and then continue from mid July

✍️I’m continuing to write and have a few blog ideas that I hope to get out this month. I’ve written recently about binging and exercise dependency because they happened to be in my mind. But i dont just support people experiencing eating or exercise difficulties. So I’ll write about other, less specific, things this month.

There are also a couple of things that I’d like to be able to tell you about just now - but I can’t yet 😐

I will, when i can, but I just can’t - yet

Not sure if that’s mysterious, or annoying…? But to be clear, I’m not doing any of that to big it up and get folk excited and then create a sense of urgency around it….
Coz I’m so over seeing that everywhere….
I’m simply just waiting for an email to confirm it.

And, to be honest, I’m now more concerned that I might have risked bigging my wee plan up so much that you’ll end up thinking I’m going to announce a Ted Talk or something 😳😬

It’s just a wee in-person group thing that I think will be pretty lovely to be honest.

Hopefully more to say later this week 😁

I’ve written a new blog.

The picture above shows me truly joyful at the end of a long triathlon. TRULY joyful!

Not berating myself for ‘could have done better’ ‘wasn’t good enough’ ‘should have felt easier’ or ‘how can I ever live up to what people think of me’

Not having trained for it in order to prove to myself that I’m worthy, likeable or to portray a facade to others.
Not having punished myself along the way, or felt that I had to look a certain way to turn up.

It was ALL for my enjoyment and fun.

It was a journey and it involved questioning and shifting my intention behind training, competing and exercising and learning to listen to and respect my body.

I’ve written a blog about unconscious drivers that may be lurking behind some people’s exercise behaviours.
Writing these means a lot to me.

Yes, I’ve been there myself, but I also really care about helping people know themself, and have a happier and healthier relationship with themself, their body, the world and others.

I hope writing these things and supporting others in therapy does this 💕💕

I’m loving writing blogs as opposed to doom scrolling!

This is one I’ve been meaning to write for a long time.

We are told that exercise is good for our mental health. And it IS. Research shows that. The benefits are real. There can be positive chemical changes from it and beneficial body awareness input.

BUT - there is something that in my opinion is less talked about - and needs to be - and that’s when those benefits to our mental wellbeing tip.

And when what started as something that was helpful can begin to feel less like a choice, more like a demand. Less like a relief and more like a requirement.

As with everything there is nuance which can’t be wholly explored in a 1000 word blog.
But a little bit more scope there than in an instagram reel or post I reckon 😉

Giving up scrolling (mostly!) has given me more space and brain capacity to write and spending time doing things that are more meaningful to me.

One of those things is sharing my knowledge around our relationship with food, our body, ourself and others. And offering different perspectives, language and conversation to some of things that people often struggle with secretively.

Binging being one of those things.

I’ve already written about dopamine’s role in the binge cycle.

This new blog post turns the light on proprioception and where seeking more of this sense’s input can be one of the reasons why eating to the point of discomfort actually makes sense.

My intention is to unshame these behaviours. If this is you are not broken, lacking in willpower or needing to try harder. There are other ways to meet this sensory need.

I’m intending to write more….. 💕💕
