This time last year, I'd spent the day in London with two very special friends, protesting for the rights of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We had an amazing day, and we got to see some of the sights, go out for dinner on Shaftesbury Avenue, and see so many beautiful things.

It was so hot, and I was MELTING! I was wearing Size 20 cropped trousers, the only thing I could find in the shops that actually fit! The eagle-eyed of you will also spot my walking stick. I needed the support of the stick on any long distances this time last year because my M.E. was causing me so much pain, and my leg muscles would randomly spasm and make my legs go weak. This chronic pain is the reason my weight ballooned so much; I ate to soothe myself through the hardest moments.

Luckily, thanks to supportive friends, I finally went to the GP to ask for stronger pain relief. I'd been on prescription Cocodamol for 18 years by this time, and I was so scared they wouldn't give me anything else. Luckily though, I saw a good GP who listened to me, and by December, I had worked up to painkillers that actually helped and had spoken to the top M.E. specialist in Europe. She, too, was lovely. She added Fibromyalgia to my diagnosis and gave me lots of support. Thanks to her, I was finally in a position to lose weight again, and today I proudly walked my son through the zoo with no walking aid, 4.5St lighter, and in less pain than I had expected!

The right support, both professional and from loved ones, can make all the difference. Thank you girls, you know who you are 😘Today is the first day of the rest of my life 😍
