Your mental health and self growth is so often hugely impacted by those around us. If you have ever experienced that feeling that other people's opinions were stealing your power and making things feel heavy and pressured, then this post could be for you.

Be that parents or family members, your boss or work colleagues, your friends, your partner, your ex. Some people will judge you, misunderstand you, not listen to you or simply not appreciate your gifts and skill sets because they can only see your life from their own perspective.

If you find yourself feeling deeply judged or misunderstood by others in your life, start by accepting that those around you may simply not be willing or have the capacity to see your life choices from anything other than their own perspective.

This is particular true of parents and their adult children, which I find is a topic of stress, frustration and anxiety that comes up frequently in sessions with my clients.

At the end of the day, learning to accept and understand why others "don't get it" and letting that "just be so" can liberate us from the weight that others judgement and perspective can bring.

It's your life.
Your choices.
Your decisions
Your journey.

Taking back power and putting yourself back in control of your own life can start with just letting others misunderstand you.

Their misunderstanding is not your responsibility.

That's ultimately on them & it's not always your responsibility to endlessly try to make others see it from your perspective or waste energy constantly trying to get validation by those who simply can't or won't understand.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Beautiful boy Rubin leaning into his wonderful human , early this morning for their equine therapy session first thing, before it got too hot.

This very special pony is able to form beautiful connections in ways which never cease to amaze me. Always so open, empathetic and trusting, he was always destined to become the most wonderful therapy pony.

If you feel you might benefit from equine assisted therapy, I have a rare few slots opening up in June as current clients sessions come to an end.

Moving Forward 🌙

"What do you do when things are tough?" asked the fox.
"I remember that hard times pass," replied the moon.
"Life, like nature, is always moving forward, and nothing – good or bad – lasts forever."

With love,

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."

Maya Angelou was a woman of immense grace and wisdom, whose life had been marked by unimaginable suffering & injustice. Maya understood, from deeply personal experience, that carrying heavy experiences and unresolved trauma or conflict alone and hidden from view, can become too much to bear.

The therapeutic relationship is unique.
It offers you, the client, the opportunity to share the 'untold stories inside you' , in a safe, completely confidential and non- judgemental space.

As a therapist, it is always a deep privilege for me to be able to hold space for such sacred 'unburdening' of the heavy things my clients may be carrying.

It is always my goal that every client leaves their session with me feeling at least a little lighter than when they came in.

If you feel like you are carrying a heavy mental load, which has become almost too much to bear alone, please do reach out via phone or my website and drop me a message. We can set up a brief, free & confidential introductory chat with no pressure or expectation to book a session.

How to move through overwhelm:
One Step at a Time!

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the weight of our responsibilities and goals. If you ever find yourself paralysed by the sheer number of tasks ahead, remember: progress often comes from simplicity.

Focus on One Thing:
When we try to tackle multiple tasks at once, our energy gets divided, often leaving us feeling defeated. Instead, choose just one focus for the day. What is the one thing that, if accomplished, would make you feel a sense of relief?

Take Just One Step:
Once you've identified your focus, break it down into small, manageable steps. Celebrate the completion of each step along the way. This not only creates a sense of accomplishment but also builds momentum.

Practice Self-Compassion
Remember, it’s okay to take your time. Growth is a journey, and each small step contributes to a larger change. Be gentle with yourself—progress, no matter how small, is still progress.

Next time you feel the clouds of overwhelm gathering, pause, breathe, and remember: one focus, one step at a time. You’ve got this! 🌟

Sometimes we face enormous challenges in our lives, that seem completely overwhelming.

We may find ourselves thinking "How can I get through this? I cannot possibly find the strength. It's too much."

I found these beautiful words by the poet Donna Ashworth & so sharing for your Wednesday inspiration.

"Oh but you must look behind you sometimes, or you may not recall the mountains.
The ones you thought you’d die on. The ones you scaled and survived with such bravery and passion.
And then you’ll look at the mountain ahead of you and realise you’ve done it before.
You’ve done much harder before, in fact. And you’ll do it again.
Oh but you must look behind you sometimes my friend, even if just to see how far you’ve come."
