The Biceps Tenodesis Files Day….. I’m honestly not sure 😅

So lesson learnt today:
Buy a spare £4.99 sling from Amazon, get a sling worth £4.99 from Amazon….

Sit and mull over the fact that you buy cheap you buy twice then come up with the genius idea of making it your bath sling. It’s mesh so will dry quickly and your arm will get a supported wash.

Fast forward 30 mins and you have had your first bath in a week in your new bath sling 🥰

The Biceps Tenodesis Files Day 3

I’ve been Out Out! Whoop whoop!

A walk in the Fresh air, sunshine (and hail apparently) were just what the doctor ordered this morning mainly in a huge bid to erm…. ‘Get things moving’ 😆

I’m currently storing:
3 slices of toast
3 sandwiches
Pasta pesto
Cottage pie
Chicken rice and broccoli
Multiple biscuits and packets of minstrels….

And I still get hungry 🤯

Let’s just say the pain killers are stopping the pain and other things.

On a serious note this is a struggle for me. The way my body has changed over night I find really hard to get my head around. Yes my shoulder is agony, and no I’m not sleeping but those things I can cope with.

Not being able to do my jeans up after 3 days I can’t. I’m desperate to move and terrified of messing up my arm.
Pffft. This is a journey. A very triggering, frustrating journey. But it’s only Day 3…. 😫😅 onwards and upwards!

In other news:
I’m no longer on the bench for an American football team - the big dressing is off!
Throne of Glass book box being delivered tomorrow 🤓
I’ve had a great excuse to buy new clothes - retail therapy for the win!

Saturday was one of my biggest challenges to date as an affiliate owner. It’s not the first comp we have run but it is the first I have organised solo.

Now I’m not a competitive athlete. Mainly due to being injured for so long, but my members love it and I love watching them compete so an In-house comp we had.

This was a perfect plan as in my head if it all went to s**t I could shrug it off and say ‘who cares it’s for charity!’

However…. It’s didn’t go to s**t…. It was bloody EPIC!

And I’m extremely proud of myself 🥰 not only did I plan the WoDs for both Rx and Scaled categories (and everyone know how much I love programming 😅), I even made an excel spreadsheet - AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET (did you hear that at the back?) not just any old spreadsheet but one that some how (well with a lot of help from Uncle GPT) auto-populated as I entered scores 🤯

Despite the constant intrusive thoughts of not being able to pull this off alone the one thing that became extremely clear is that I was certainly NOT alone.

My coaching team is simply the best - from testing workouts, taping floors, judging and coaching on the day, listening to me panic about sleds… I couldn’t have done it without them.

On top of that my members quite frankly are better than yours 😝 they turned up, thrown together in random pairs, dressed up in their golfing finery and helped the day run like absolute clockwork.

So to the faces in the second picture - thank you and just you wait to see what I’ve got planned for October 💪🐦‍🔥💪

The Bicep Tenodesis Files Part 1

Remember that Biceps tendon that was a long way from home? Let’s just say it’s been captured and grounded 😅

A few people have asked what I’ve had done - the picture above is the best I can find thanks to the Cleveland Shoulder Institute.

As well as putting my long head of biceps in his place I’ve also had a relatively large tear in my subscap tendon which need some attention.

Now I have an extremely pi**ed off shoulder - imagine a teenager, locked in their room throwing their toys out the pram whenever you try and reason with them… this is currently my right arm. Pinned down by a sling it doesn’t like and does not want to be moved in anyway and objects at the top of its voice when i suggest repositioning it.

That being said a combination of very strong drugs, about 17 pillows and sheer exhaustion I got a whole 5 hours sleep last night which is more than I get normally 😆

All jokes aside this is by far the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. Currently questioning a lot of life choices but equally I’m excited for moving through this journey and getting back to doing the things I love pain free 🤞

Today is an exciting day as I get to take off my American football shoulder pad of a dressing 🥳 That combined with actually being able to type, which is a huge improvement, means not only will I complete MAFS but I may get some admin done 🐦‍🔥

Anyone wanting to know more about this procedure, why I’ve had it done and what recovery will look like follow along!
I can’t imagine it’s going to be pretty but it will be worth it ❤️

Right I now need to p*e so let’s see how pi**ed off the teenager really is this morning 🙈

Yesterday I could barely move - my hip of all things decided it wanted some attention!

Today it’s loads better and it was time to move, gently but with purpose.
