Like any other issue or injury, I look at plantar fasciitis holistically. The are many causes for plantar fasciitis, one of the common ones being a tight calf.

A tight calf can restrict ankle movement, which alters the mechanics of the foot, resulting in increased strain on the plantar fascia. For this reason, I will always start with massaging and releasing the calf, to identify and work with any particular problem areas, before moving onto the foot.

If you suffer with plantar fasciitis, I recommend that you investigate if the cause is from incorrect footwear, running form, or overloading, so you can solve the issue sooner rather than later! And of course, book a massage in with me.
