After what’s been a really tough, challenging and unusual year for everyone I’m sure, I was not expecting to achieve Gold status with !

This is testament to all of our lovely and very loyal clients, who have maintained their skin care journey and if anything, enhanced and took the time to take care of their skin at home.

We’ve been against all odds with not being able to perform treatments during lockdown, we’ve had local lockdowns which also meant no close contact treatments and - all other treatments can take place but no treatments to the face has meant us being closed for the majority of the year, which takes up the majority of our business, Scary in simple terms! We’ve since seen the majority of our lovely clients and had a huge influx of new all through word of mouth which, I have to say thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️

We will be celebrating such an amazing achievement 🥂🥰

Thank you to for inviting BLOMSTRA to this incredible event. Our mission has been to educate and share our knowledge on skin, without blinding you with science.

From such an early age I was so interested in skin, and took time to study, ask questions and read not just what’s online but, from reputable, knowledgable doctors, plastic surgeons and skin cancer specialists - not influencers.

Skin is fascinating, on how it works, how it’s made and everything in between. During consultation we actually spend maybe 5% of our time recommending skincare, and 95% of our time educating. When you know what skin needs to be healthy - whatever that means to you (younger, clearer, resilient) we don’t need to tell you what to use, you’ll know yourself and that’s what makes us different ✊👩🏼‍💼

Now more than I’ve ever known within the industry of skin - clients are more aware about skincare percentages, and what’s actually within the product as opposed to pretty packaging 👏

I’m here to tell you - reading an ingredients list can be very confusing and actually misleading...

The first 5 rule 📝
Is a great rule of thumb, ingredients listed at the top are what features within the product the most and ultimately determines the true performance of the product. Those who follow this rule claim that any ingredients listed below the first five won’t have a meaningful effect on the skin, because they are included at too low a percentage. While it’s true that ingredients are generally listed in order of highest to lowest concentration, skin care formulations are incredibly nuanced. It’s almost impossible to tell how well an ingredient will perform based where it falls on the ingredient label.

Why the “First Five” Rule Isn’t Always Right 👩🏼‍💼

In short, an ingredient doesn’t need to be listed in the top five to have a positive impact on your skin. This doesn’t mean the First Five Rule never applies, but basing assumptions on an INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) list is difficult under the best of circumstances.

Examples of Ingredients That Don’t Require a High Percentage to Work 🕵️‍♀️

Antioxidants
Many antioxidants can be quite potent in very small doses.

Vitamin C

There are so many different kinds of Vitamin C, all of which have a different recommended use level depending on which form they are in

Vitamin A

Like Vitamin C, the recommended use level for Vitamin A will vary greatly depending on whether it’s in the form of an acid, alcohol, ester or liposome (for a time-released delivery). This means percentages will vary a lot.

Collagen-boosting peptides
Some peptides have a very set recommended use level that has been determined by clinical testing. For example, most matrixyl peptides have a recommended use level of 2%.

To save you the time - I’ve done the research. And only recommend and use myself, products that work, it’s what I’ve based my business on. 🧠 we specialise in skin health.

Let’s have a chat 💬 who scrubs? 👋 hands up reveal yourselves...

Are you a secret scrubber “it’s just a very fine one,” “I only use it on my body,” “But I need it to get rid of my dead skin cells right?” Are you one of these people 🕵️‍♀️

If you are stop 🛑 I’ve heard every excuse in the book - there isn’t ever - EVER a good reason to scrub. Sometimes it’s hard to swallow something we’ve been doing and, thinking we’re being good to admit that actually, we’re wrong.

If you’ve paid £5 or £50, it doesn’t matter - here at BLOMSTRA we do not and will never tell you to scrub. Surprised? You’re welcome to get in touch and we can educate you further on why it’s possibly (not the first) but in our top 10 of sins that are causing you to age, giving you pigmentation, causing those age spots, have you noticed those tiny red capillaries on your cheeks? Probably the scrub... we can even go as far to say it quite possibly could be adding to a possibility of causing skin cancer (now we are being extreme but, could argue the fact)

We are here to answer ALL your skin questions. But thought we would put this fact up there to get the cogs turning ⚙️

Skin EssentiA + Youth EssentiA part of the vitamin A Step Up System are essential and form the core to the routine, smoothing, lifting, correcting DNA and spewing up cell turnover are just to name just a few.

Hydrating Serum (or Hyaluronic Acid Serum) intensely hydrates, plumps and comforts dehydrated and parched skin. The ultimate anti ageing serum. Must be used with the home needling devise.

Home Needling Devise. Should be incorporated into your routine (after reaching level 2 vitamin A cream) and used every evening to enhance product pe*******on by 10 fold! 👏

Colostrum Gel - one of my personal favourites, stimulates growth factors in the skin (laymen’s terms, this is needed for the skin to be healthy, plump and resilient) amazing for collagen formation and acne skins to soothe.

whilst it may be a good idea at the time, alcohol dehydrates the whole body including your largest organ – your skin!

When alcohol is consumed it creates a histamine reaction that inflames the skin and creates redness and flushing. It impairs your sleep and compromises the regenerative cycle of normal cellular turnover, leading to an unhealthy complexion in the short term (dryness, dull, spots) but with long term affects being much more severe on the health of your skin.

Clear fluids will pass through the body quicker to minimise the side effects of a good night out. And whilst its easier said than done, replacing that vodka shot with a glass of water will drastically improve body (and skin) hydration and less the effects the next day 😷

𝐃𝐞𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

It’s so easy to forget to drink water, and we only think to do this when we feel thirsty. When you feel thirsty your body is already dehydrated! Also, people can often mistake the feeling of thirst as hunger.

With daily activities of working, taking the kids to school, shopping and keeping on top of household duties its no wonder we forget and put off keeping ourselves topped up with water!

But did you know that even mild dehydration could be the result of sunken eyes, shrivelled skin, muscle cramps, joint aches, weight gain, spots and blackheads, irritability and increased anxiety - only to name a few! As women we are made up of 55% water and men 60%. Keeping your levels topped up will make tremendous benefits to our skin and overall health! You’ll notice brighter eyes, a feeling of more energy, you’re skin will start to look more like a grape rather than a raisin. Vital nutrients will be transported more effectively to feed your organs, brain and your skin, all with the added bonus of kick starting your fat burning metabolism!

Can you have a healthy Tan?

In one word, no.

Yes sun does provide us with vitamin D, and a little of it is actually good! Helping to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. Having around 20 minutes of sun every day is actually advised - but tanning is not. A tan is a sign that your skins been exposed to UV radiation, and is an SOS response to protect our skin. A Tan is a scar, the damaging effects won’t ever leave. The effects of sunworshipers long term are not worth a temporary “healthy glow.”

Sorry to use you as an example Ulrica, but we don’t advocate or promote it’s safe to Tan, we literally cringe when reading posts about how to achieve a safe healthy tan, there isn’t one, full stop.

We suggest wearing a broad spectrum sunscreen from head to toe, using retinyl palmitate, cover up with tightly weaved clothing, cover areas such as shoulders and feet that are particularly prone to burning, wear sunglasses, a wide brimmed hat and, seek hade during peak times when the sun is at its highest in the sky (11:00-16:00) there is no better advise to prevent against ageing than this, or prevention against skin cancer! @ BLOMSTRA
