Yesterday, we held a game of carpet bowls in our main lounge. It became very competitive when our wellbeing co-ordinator, Hayley, declared that it was going to be a tournament. Everyone was determined to give it their best shot in the hope of attaining a gold cup. It was a fun-filled afternoon that everybody thoroughly enjoyed and we were finally able to award our champion with her well-earned cup.

To celebrate World Photography Day, we held a photograph reminiscence afternoon. Our lovely residents took part in showing their most treasured photos to each other, explaining the backgrounds and reasons why they were such precious memories. Hayley, our wellbeing co-ordinator also showed and explained some of the world's most iconic photos. It was a lovely, relaxing, and in some ways emotional afternoon and all our residents said that they had really enjoyed the experience.

On Saturday, we held our long-awaited open day in celebration of our superheroes - all the members of staff at Clarendon Hall. Due to inclement weather, the outdoor fete became an indoor event, and we switched things around to the activities lounge and the dining room, instead of the soggy outdoors. The barbecue still went ahead, thanks to our wonderful catering team in the kitchen, and all our lovely residents and their many guests were entertained by two singers, Jill and Nigel, who really got us in the party spirit. The Clarendon Hall choir also performed for us and they were helped out by Batman, Super Pig, and Wonder Woman. There was a raffle and several name cards and a prize hamper and all monies raised, currently over £350 and still counting, will be donated to the Alzheimer's Society. Everyone had a memorable, really super, time and said how much they had enjoyed the afternoon and that they are looking forward to more events organised by our superhero team at Clarendon Hall.

Yesterday, we held a choir practice dress rehearsal for our hero-themed open day on Saturday 29th August. Our choir worked really hard and we went through our whole set list. The afternoon was also filled with a lot of laughter as our wellbeing co-ordinator, Hayley, led our superheroes in the songs and actions. It was a joyful afternoon and we hope that many people will be able to come and join us on our special open day to see the superheroes in action!

Yesterday, our lovely residents took part in a game of tenpin bowling. They were offered a choice of a hard or a soft ball to bowl at the pins. The hard ball had more success in knocking over the pins, but as the game went on, the softer ball became easier to roll as our residents tired. Everyone had a thorough workout and enjoyed the afternoon and we had a tie for the title of champion, so a rematch will be eagerly awaited.

This afternoon it was 'eyes down' as we held a prize bingo session, hosted by our wellbeing co-ordinator, Hayley. Our lovely residents really got into the games and were naturally very pleased when they won a prize. There was also a lot of co-operation between our residents as they helped each other with spotting the numbers and calling out when a line or 'full house' had been achieved. By the end of the afternoon, everyone had won a prize!

We had a game of archery on the Wii console recently. Our lovely residents were very pleased with themselves with how well they did. Although it became quite competitive, it was also a very supportive atmosphere, with archers offering their advice for the best way to fire at the targets and successful bullseyes brought rounds of applause. It was a lovely afternoon that our residents thoroughly enjoyed.

We recently held a singalong afternoon with Hayley, our wellbeing co-ordinator, being our principal songstress. She guided our lovely residents in a medley of popular classics that were performed with surprising gusto. Everyone said, somewhat croakily, that it had been a wonderful afternoon where there had been a real party atmosphere. Some of the most popular songs will be performed by the Clarendon Hall choir at our forthcoming open day on Saturday 29th August.

We held a giant dominoes afternoon, where our lovely residents worked together in teams. It became quite competitive, but there was a great deal of fun and laughter and everyone thoroughly enjoyed playing the game. At the end of the day, each team had managed a victory and everyone was deservedly presented with a winner's medal. Our residents are now looking forward to a crucial rematch to decide the ultimate champions!

We had another game of giant snakes and ladders. Virtually the whole floor of our lounge was used in the game. Our lovely residents had a great deal of fun rolling the dice and watching their counters move up the ladders. Inevitably, it became quite competitive, especially when everyone seemed to be caught by the same nasty snake! All our residents were fully involved in the game and it was a delightful and entertaining afternoon that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
