🌿 A little moment of celebration at Dr Sally’s Botanicals…

We’re absolutely delighted to share that three of our products have been recognised in the Wellness From Within Awards 2026

🥈 Defence Tonic — SILVER AWARD

🌿 Happy Gut Tea — FINALIST

🌿 Turmeric & Boswellia Capsules — FINALIST

And this comes just after another milestone we’re incredibly proud of — being recognised as a Country Living Approved Artisan.

Dr Sally’s Botanicals grew from my many years working as a doctor and medical herbalist, and from a love of bringing together the wisdom of traditional herbal medicine with modern scientific understanding.

We’re still a small, independent botanical business, so seeing three very different products from across our range recognised in these awards really does mean a great deal.

Thank you to everyone who buys our products, recommends us, leaves a lovely review or simply follows along and supports what we do. Every bit of that support helps us continue to grow while staying true to why we created Dr Sally’s Botanicals in the first place. 🌿

Thankyou to for this great post. I am delighted that PCOS is being reframed as PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
This reflects the systemic effect seen in this condition and describes so much better the root drivers.

This post also highlights a new study

This 2026 population-based study found that women with PCOS were LESS likely to be in perimenopause or postmenopause by their mid-40s and reported fewer menopausal symptoms, including fewer hot flashes and sleep disturbances.

That’s important because it suggests PCOS may not simply be an “ovarian disorder.” It may reflect a different endocrine aging trajectory involving metabolism, brain signaling, insulin dynamics, adipose tissue, inflammation, circadian rhythm, and whole-body endocrine communication.

This is exactly why the language shift from PCOS to PMOS matters. The endocrine system is not a collection of isolated glands. It is a living communication network. And maybe menopause timing is not determined by ovarian aging alone either…

Chronic stress is a major root cause of many health problems and has a huge impact on our mental health, immune system, hormones, gut health, heart health, energy, sleep and weight.

Here are 5 Root Causes that cause our stress response to go into overdrive or can lead to problems with chronic stress in our body:

1. Chronic emotional and mental stress: chronic overwhelm, or the physical, mental and emotional reactions we have when we’re carrying more of a load than we are able to bear. Trauma, PTSD and long term anxiety can trigger this too.

2. Food triggers: the big diet triggers that can lead to chronic stress are blood sugar imbalances, high sugar and high carb diets, hidden inflammatory food triggers and the phytonutrient gap or nutritional deficiencies.

3. Gut disruption - Gut health and your microbiome are closely linked to the rest of our physical and emotional health. Our microbiome health impacts our nutrient absorption, detoxification, mood, appetite, food cravings, mental function and inflammation. Chronic dysbiosis or leaky gut can be a source of chronic stress in your body.

4. Environmental toxins: Heavy metals, PCBs, flame retardants, pesticides, environmental toxins are all around us and in us! Every single one of us has been exposed and if we measure the umbilical cord of newborns we find exposure starts in the womb. Chronic low dose exposure can lead to symptoms of chronic stress in the body by increasing inflammation and oxidative stress.

5. Stealth or chronic infections: Chronic low level infections keep your body in a chronic state of low level alarm. EBV or glandular fever, Lyme disease, fungal infections or gut dysbiosis can disrupt our immune systems and lead to chronic stress in the body.

There are many ways to address these root causes and we love helping our patients discover which ones may be contributing to their health problems and then addressing these one by one using a personalised approach.
