Join us this Sunday (24th May) at ⭐️ The Weekenders ⭐️ from 11am onwards for a the last day of Dementia Action Week with Toxic Sofa providing live music 🎵

Did you know that at the Sleights Community Hub we support people living with and affected by dementia on an evening and weekend 🌙✨

Because dementia doesn’t stick to office hours ⏰💭

That’s why 🍻 The Pubtastics Carer & Dementia Tea at the Pub Social and 🎈 The Weekenders Carer & Dementia Social were created by Jade back in January 2023 💜👩🏻‍⚕️

After seeing there was very little support available on evenings and weekends, Jade decided something had to change 🚀

Join us this Sunday at The Weekenders from 11am onwards for a Dementia Action Week Special with Toxic Sofa

What are our groups all about? 👇

🍰 Friendship and connection
🧠 Support for people living with dementia AND carers
🌍 Widening social circles
💜 Reducing loneliness and isolation
🎶 Fun, memories and community spirit

From giggles over a pint 🍻 to friendships that continue outside the groups 🫶 these sessions have become a safe space, a support network and a community family for many 💜

Across Redcar and Cleveland, organisations are coming together 🤝🌍 to support people living with dementia 🧠💜, their families 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, and carers 💕 through a week full of connection, learning, and community warmth ☕🌿✨

Between Monday 18 – Sunday 24 May 📅🗓️, there will be a range of open events and activities taking place every day 🎉📍, hosted by:

Another Fabulous Sunday at ⭐️ The Weekenders ⭐️ for VE Day Celebration 🙌

Lunch was a winner 🏅 including the strawberry cheesecake croissant cakes made by Jade.

The Road to Vintage Me - Shelley Morrow -Vintage Songbird joined us and provided the most magical musical performance 🎶

We are looking forward to Shelly returning in November for Remembrance Sunday.

This Sunday 💜 our fortnightly carer and dementia weekend social is back from 11:00 - 16:00

🎶 Live music from The Road to Vintage Me - Shelley Morrow -Vintage Songbird

🍽️ Delicious homemade lunch:
Mince and onion served with dumplings, buttery mash potatoes, swede, cabbage and carrots 🥔🥕

🍮 Still got room for pudding?
Enjoy good old school cake and custard 😍

🫖☕️🥤 Free unlimited tea, coffee and juice included

🍫 A fun quiz with the obligatory chocolates because no quiz is complete without them 😄

All this for just £15 per person on a Sunday… absolute bargain ✨

We will be at the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Volunteers Fayre on Wednesday 3rd June at St Nicholas Church Hall.

Another golden Sunday at The Weekenders ☀️💜 our fortnightly carer & dementia social (10:00–16:00) where the kettle’s always on and the conversation flows freely…

🎨 We got crafty making beautiful glass plant pot stakes with Jo from The Glass Ark , we can’t wait till they return from the kiln 🔥✨

🌱 Bulbs were planted in pots with care, we’re already excited for the “look what’s grown!” updates 🌷📸

🍽️ Sunday lunch was a proper plateful of comfort:
Slow-cooked chicken thighs, sage & onion stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, buttery mash 🥔, cabbage, swede & celeriac mash, honey roast carrots & parsnips 🥕 all drenched in rich chicken gravy… the kind that demands a second helping 😋

🍰 Pudding? Classic school cake & custard… made with cream because why not turn the dial up to indulgent 🎉

🫖 Unlimited tea, coffee & juice kept everyone topped up and toasty

🧠 Charlie returned with his brilliant quiz, and yes… the chocolates made their grand tour around the table 🍫

All this for just £15 on a Sunday… not a bad way to spend the day 💷💜
