An ongoing movement success story ❤
This is Lucy (video at x2 movement speed):
Lucy was once very active — running, riding horses and even walking on her hands. But over time, movement became painful, frightening and unpredictable as hypermobility and shallow shoulder sockets brought started to impact her day to day life.
She went on to have approximately 100+ subluxations and dislocations over the years, forcing her to give up many of the things she loved. Years of being passed between specialists — and being told things like “just wear a brace” — left her fearful of what her body might do next.
Our work started small, with safe, gentle and non-threatening movement. We avoided painful ranges, listened to her body and gradually explored what felt possible — always with patience, curiosity and a bit of fun.
And the results have been incredible.
✨ Lucy now hill walks with confidence
🚴♀️ She’s recently been on a cycling holiday
👧 She plays on the floor with her grandchildren
🏊♀️ And she’s swimming again
My role was never to tell Lucy what she couldn’t do. It was to help her rediscover what her body could do.
If you’ve been told you can’t move, or you’re frightened of what your body might do next, remember:
Start small
Find safety
Stay curious
Build confidence.
Sometimes progress begins with simply discovering that movement can feel good again.
You can do the things you love .. you can move with confidence and less fear. You just need to start small, allow yourself the chance to feel safe. Be patient and curious and you can make great steps forwards.❤️
