Over the summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Lyon, France, to explore some of the emerging treatment options for women with complex endometriosis.
In July, I visited Professor Gil Dubernard alongside several colleagues to observe the treatment of bowel endometriosis using Focal One, a high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology.
We observed three women undergoing the treatment, all of whom were able to return home the same day.
What was particularly interesting was seeing a technology traditionally associated with the treatment of prostate cancer being explored as a potential option for women with bowel endometriosis.
Initial results are encouraging, and developments like this are important because they could ultimately give women with complex endometriosis more treatment options alongside surgery.
It was a fascinating visit and a valuable opportunity to see first-hand how new technologies are continuing to develop within endometriosis care.
🎥 In the video, I explain a little more about what we saw in Lyon and why I believe developments like this are so exciting
