We love working alongside the team at the Forest of Bowland National Landscape. It's worth having a look at our 'wheelchair hub page on our website for further information on how to book an all-terrain wheelchair in this beautiful area.

Who says adventures have to stay above ground?

A day out with the Feel Good Factor group from Leeds took Access the Dales to Ingleton Cave — a chance to explore somewhere different, spend time together and enjoy a shared adventure.

For us, this is what making the inaccessible accessible is all about: opening up opportunities, building confidence and helping more people feel they belong in the great outdoors. Even when the adventure takes us underground!

Thank you to everyone who joined us.

Where would you love your next adventure to take you?

“One of the ladies said she could taste the fresh air.”
That’s a moment I’ll remember from our Access the Dales walk at Ilam Park, held as part of the YHA Festival of Walking with Sheffield Environmental Movement and Roshni Sheffield.
For many of the women, it was their first time exploring the countryside. As we followed the paths through the park, we talked about the barriers that can make a day out feel daunting: access, confidence, culture, and whether you’ll feel you belong when you arrive.
By the end, there were smiles, plenty of chatter and, best of all, plans to do more walks. That’s why it matters to include accessible walks in a festival celebrating the outdoors. Everyone deserves the chance to join in.
Thank you to the National Trust for the refreshments, and to Andrew MocCoy and the YHA for their support. And thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special. 🧡
