I will just leave this here .
🧠 What does "neurodivergent" actually mean?
I often forget as a neurospicey lassie myself that not everyone knows what I know. So let me explain this...
You've probably seen this word pop up more and more , neurodiverse, neurodivergent, neurospicey (my official diagnosis). They all have the same under pinning.
Neurodivergent refers to people whose brains work differently from what society considers "typical." This includes autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Tourette's syndrome, and others.
People who are neurodivergent may think, learn, communicate, and experience the world in ways that are different NOT lesser.
Loads of neurodivergent people have incredible strengths: creativity, hyperfocus, pattern recognition, and unique problem-solving abilities. We love to celebrate and encourage this.
The opposite term is neurotypical — someone whose brain development and functioning aligns with what's considered the standard.
Using respectful, accurate language matters. We have zero tolerance for disrespect. We understand that people may not know better but we hope to educate and encourage growth.
Understanding neurodivergence helps us build more inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities where everyone can thrive. 💙
