Today we celebrate fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, father figures, and the fathers no longer with us. Behind every role is a person with their own hopes, worries, challenges and dreams.

Many men spend years supporting others whilst quietly carrying their own struggles.

This Father's Day, perhaps take a moment to check in on the man behind the role.

A conversation.
A phone call.
A simple "How are you really doing?"

Sometimes that means more than we realise.

As part of Men's Health Week, I wanted to share these words from Mike, a shift worker who had been struggling to switch off from the stresses and anxieties of daily life.

Many men become very good at carrying on.

Going to work.
Supporting others.
Meeting responsibilities.

Yet when the day finally ends, the mind often keeps going.

A lot of people struggling with sleep are still functioning highly during the day.

They work.
Parent.
Support others.
Carry responsibilities.

From the outside they often appear completely fine.

But internally the mind remains switched on long after the day has ended.

For many people, sleep difficulties are closely linked to stress, hyper-alertness and nervous system overload.

Not weakness.

Not failure.
