It's set to hit 35°C across parts of England today, a proper scorcher by anyone's standards.

If there's someone older on your mind, here's a gentle nudge to check in on them. A five-minute visit, a cold glass of water and curtains drawn on the sunny side go a long way.

A few things that help on days like this:
• Sip water through the day, even without feeling thirsty
• Close curtains on the sunny side from late morning
• A bowl of ice in front of a fan beats the fan alone
• Light meals, fruit, salads, something cold
• A quick ring just to hear how they're doing

We're keeping an extra-close eye on everyone we look after this week. If you're worried about a loved one in Wilmslow, Handforth or Alderley Edge, give us a ring. We actually answer.

Stay cool, and look after one another. ♡

Companionship is care. ♡

Loneliness is a quiet thing. It doesn't shout. It just sits in the armchair while the kettle goes cold.

Most days, a familiar voice and a hot cuppa can change a whole afternoon. That's why our visits are never just about the practical bits — making the bed, getting dressed, sorting tea. They're about whoever is there, and whoever they're with.

If someone you love has been a bit quieter than usual lately, we'd be glad to talk it through.

It’s been over a week since BBC EastEnders said goodbye to long-time character, Nigel Bates, who was living with young onset dementia.

We were delighted to advise the BBC on the storyline and applaud the sympathetic and sensitive portrayal by actor Paul Bradley, especially as Nigel's dementia symptoms worsened.

The storyline has helped shine a light on young onset dementia, raising much needed awareness around the challenges younger people and their families face.

By highlighting Nigel’s dementia symptoms, the impact they had on his relationships, and the struggle his family and friends experienced when trying to find a suitable care home, EastEnders has helped people in similar situations know they are not alone.

If Nigel's young onset dementia storyline has resonated with you, or you would like support around any aspect of dementia, you can speak to our Admiral Nurses by calling our Helpline on 0800 888 6678 or emailing [email protected].

A walk through the Carrs, a coffee on the high street, or just a chat in the garden.

Companionship doesn't always mean staying at home. For the people we look after in Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge, half the joy of a visit is getting out, a slow pootle round the park, a bit of fresh air, a familiar bench.

If your Mum or Dad has stopped going out as much as they used to, often it isn't that they don't want to, it's that going alone has got a bit much. We can fix that.

Tip Tuesday — four small ways to check in on someone you love.

1. Pop in for a cuppa. Twenty minutes in the kitchen tells you more than a phone call ever will.
2. Look around, gently. Post piling up? Fridge looking thin? Stair carpet looking trickier than it used to?
3. Ask twice. "How are you?" — then "no, really, how are you?" The second one matters.
4. Listen for the small things. "I haven't bothered with the garden." "I've stopped going to the club." Worth a follow-up.

None of these are dramatic. Most concerns start small — and the people who notice them are usually family.

If something doesn't feel quite right and you're not sure what to do next, give us a ring. We do this every day.

It's Mental Health Awareness Week.

When you're the one looking after Mum, or popping in on Dad, or holding things together for someone you love — it's easy to put your own head right at the bottom of the list.

This week we're thinking about the families who do that quietly, day in, day out. Looking after the people we love starts with looking after ourselves.

If a bit of help at home would lift some weight, we'd love to chat. There's no pressure and no obligation — just a cuppa and a proper conversation about what would actually help.

"These are the carers you're looking for..."

Happy May the 4th from all of us at Cherished Care Services!

Our team may not technically be Jedi, but across Wilmslow, Handforth, Alderley Edge and beyond, they bring proper Force every single day:

⚡ The patience of Yoda (essential, especially with the TV remote)
⚡ The loyalty of Chewbacca (just slightly less hairy)
⚡ Tea-making skills that would shame 900 protocol droids
⚡ The unwavering hope of the Rebellion — even on a wet Monday in Cheshire.

To every carer holding a hand, sharing a cuppa, and making "home" feel like home — you ARE the heroes of this galaxy.

May the 4th be with you. And if your family ever needs a little extra support at home, may we be with yours.

Meet Francine — one of our senior carers and the calmest person in any room.

Four families she sees every week. Francine is the sort of carer who notices the new photograph on the mantelpiece, remembers which chair is the good one, and knows that John wants Radio 4 on low while she pops the kettle on.

We don't send "a carer." We send Francine. Or one of her teammates you'll get to know just as well.
