Black Cat Appreciation Day 17th August 2026

Here at Wagtails we work closely with Cats Protection who curated Black Cat Appreciation Day because they take longer to find a home compared to their colourful counterparts.

Just last year one of our lovely clients rescued a stray kitten and brought her into the practice to check if she was microchipped. It seemed she was likely born to a stray in Pinewoods. Our very own Head Nurse Rachel took her home after quickly falling in love and named her Paisha (which means pussycat in maltese).

Show some appreciation for our monochrome friends and share photos of your lovely fur babies.

Silly Lily escaped from her garden yesterday and came back with this corker!! Within the hour she was seen as an emergency, admitted for a stitch up and pre-medicated for her operation. Despite her war wound her tail never stopped wagging.😍

This cheeky girl visited us today after eating an M&S fruit cake 🍰 (expensive taste Naya). Luckily the owners were aware it is highly toxic to dogs so swiftly brought her down to us so we could make her sick!

SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY!🌓
Whilst it is an exciting day for many don’t forget while out in the sun to check on your pets including your rabbits and guinea pigs during this warm weather!

Rabbits and Guinea Pigs easily suffer from heatstroke when temperatures rise above 25°C because they cannot sweat or pant effectively. To keep them safe, provide constant shade, excellent airflow, fresh cool water, and cooling aids like frozen water bottles wrapped in a towel or ceramic tiles to lie on!
