My resurFACE journey ✨ Fractional Er:YAG laser resurfacing

This video shows my real recovery journey following resurFACE, a fractional Er:YAG laser treatment designed to improve the skin’s tone, texture and overall appearance.

resurFACE works by creating tiny, controlled treatment points across the skin. This stimulates the skin’s natural repair process and encourages new collagen and elastin production, helping to improve concerns such as:

✨ Fine lines
✨ Enlarged pores
✨ Uneven skin texture
✨ Acne scarring and superficial scars
✨ Stretch marks
✨ Dull or uneven-looking skin

Straight after treatment, my skin felt hot and looked red, similar to sunburn. Over the next few days, it became dry, tight and bronzed, with the grid-like pattern shown in the video. This is part of the healing process, as the tiny treated areas begin to naturally exfoliate and shed.

By around day 8, the visible downtime had settled significantly and my skin was starting to look fresher.

However, this is not the final result.

The first week shows the surface recovery, but the skin continues renewing underneath long after the redness, bronzing and shedding have settled. Over the following weeks and months, new collagen and elastin continue to develop, meaning improvements in texture, smoothness and overall skin quality can continue to build.

A tan and laser treatments do not mix.

If you are booked for IPL or fractional laser, you must not attend with a tan. This includes sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan.

IPL works by targeting pigment in the skin, so when the skin is tanned there is more pigment present. This increases the risk of side effects and can affect how safely and effectively the treatment can be carried out.

Fractional laser works differently, but tanned or recently sun-exposed skin is still not safe to treat. Skin that has had sun exposure is more reactive and more likely to heal poorly or develop unwanted pigmentation afterwards.

This is why we advise avoiding sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan before treatment, and using SPF daily.

If you arrive to your appointment with a tan, your treatment will not go ahead and a cancellation fee will still apply.

This is not us being awkward — it is about protecting your skin and making sure your treatment is carried out safely and correctly.

Laser treatments need commitment, and that includes being mindful of sun exposure. If you have a holiday coming up or know you will be in the sun, please plan your appointments accordingly so we can treat you safely and get the best possible results.
