⚽ 30 Years of Fantasy Football ⚽️
Apparently, Liverpool legend Bill Shankly once said “Football a matter of life and death? No.....It’s much more important than that," which is why back in the heady days of the summer of 2025, a few members sat down to plan the Parchment Trust Fantasy Football League. Things look a bit different now compared to when we first started putting our teams together in 1995, cutting out names of players from the Daily Telegraph and walking miles to the nearest post box to make our transfer requests. Nowadays, things are digital, transfers and team changes are on our phones and computers, but the competition is just as fierce.
This season we had 49 teams owned by people linked to Parchment Trust, young and old.
Billy led the way early in the season, but the football season is a "marathon not a sprint" as somebody once said, and he was left disappointed as Steve staged a late run to his goal!
We have all seen players receive a red card for foul play, but Steve assures us that despite being the ‘administrator’ for the league and helping members with their teams, there isn't anything dodgy going on....so, with the final scores now in, this year’s winner and proud owner of ‘The David Johnson Award’ goes to…Steve Barnes! 👏🏅😀
Sean and Barry presented Steve with his trophy today and Sean said "I guess he did well, it's the second year in a row"... as he shrugged his shoulders 😂
