We’re delighted to welcome some new feathered friends to the Saddlers Farm family: A group of domestic geese who have settled into their new home and are already adding plenty of character to the farm.

They join the freshly hatched chicks at the Farm, making the farm busier than ever and gradually filling up with more and more animals for clients to see, interact with and help care for.

Having animals around the day centre provides another opportunity for clients to get involved in everyday activities, develop responsibility and enjoy spending time with the animals.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Saddlers Farm animal family continue to grow!

Winnett Cottage hosted a cultural day for residents and staff from both Winnett Cottage and Windsor House, bringing everyone together to share food, stories and a little piece of their own culture.
Staff and residents each prepared food from their own cultures, alongside a BBQ, creating an incredible spread for everyone to enjoy together.

There was plenty of food, lots of smiles, plenty of laughter and, most importantly, a really lovely atmosphere as everyone had the chance to share something about their culture with one another.

Days like this are a great reminder of the diversity within our teams and the people we support, and how much there is to celebrate when we come together.

Watch the video to see just how much food there was!

We’re always grateful when families take the time to share their experience of our services, and this recent review of Howe Dell Manor on carehome.co.uk means a great deal to the team.

The reviewer described Howe Dell Manor as “the right placement” for their loved one, highlighting the patience, support and encouragement provided by staff, as well as the care given to the family throughout their journey.

They particularly praised the team for taking the time to get to know their loved one and for supporting them around everyday needs, activities, appointments and maintaining their independence.

They also shared “Staff continue to be patient and supportive to the resident and to the family and friends of the resident.”

Thank you to the family for sharing such thoughtful feedback, and to the Howe Dell Manor team for the care, patience and commitment they show every day.

70 years of service between five people! That’s a lot of experience, commitment and memories made along the way. Our CEO, Phil, has recently been travelling across Nouvita services to personally present Long Service Awards to some familiar faces who have reached impressive milestones:

- From Eltisley Manor, Robert and Howard hit 15 years, while Heather reached 10 years
- At Greenwood Cottage, Priya has been with us for 15 years
- While at Howe Dell Manor, nurse Grace has also wracked up an impressive 15 years

Each received a trophy and certificate, along with a few words from Phil and, most importantly, a heartfelt thank you for everything they’ve contributed over the years.

Between them, Robert, Heather, Howard, Priya and Grace have given an incredible 70 years of service to Nouvita!

People staying with an organisation for 10 or 15 years is something worth recognising. Thank you to all five of you for the part you continue to play in our services, and congratulations on your milestones!

If you’re interested in joining a company where staying a long time is far from the exception, then check out our current vacancies: https://nouvita.co.uk/your-career/?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=70-years-service-social

This month’s Baldock Brilliance Award goes to Tine, one of our RMNs on Mulberry Ward, recognising the support she provided during a particularly challenging period on the ward.

Tine made herself consistently available, supporting colleagues, reassuring patients and taking time to speak with people both directly involved in incidents and those affected by them.
Importantly, she looked beyond the incidents themselves. Tine took time to understand what had happened and identify potential triggers, using those conversations to help the team learn, respond and work towards better outcomes for everyone involved.

Hospital Director Ambrose commented:
“Congratulations Tine. You demonstrated that you could work effectively under pressure while continuing to support both your colleagues and patients by checking their wellbeing. You have shown that you are a good team player and flexible in meeting the needs of patients.”

A very well-deserved Brilliance Award. Congratulations, Tine, and thank you for everything you bring to Mulberry Ward.

There was plenty to see, taste and learn at Eltisley Manor’s Cultural World Day, as residents and staff celebrated the many different cultures that make up the Eltisley community.

‘Culture stations’ were set up, with residents given their own ‘passports’ to collect stamps as they travelled from one to the next. Along the way, they could discover interesting and fun facts about different places, listen to music from across the world and, of course, sample the food.

And there was plenty of that! Dishes inspired by African, Caribbean, Asian and European cultures turned the day into quite the culinary tour.

Beyond the food and activities, the day was about celebrating the different backgrounds, traditions and experiences within Eltisley Manor. We may each bring something different to the table – quite literally on this occasion – but it’s those differences that help make Eltisley the community it is.

A bit of tombola, hook a duck, something to eat and even the chance to try on a police hat – there was plenty going on when service users from The Leys headed out to a local care home’s summer fete recently.

They spent time enjoying the stalls, food and drink and being part of the local community, as well as stopping for a chat with local police officers – with the hats naturally getting a try-on too!

A lovely afternoon out and another opportunity for the people we support at The Leys to get involved with events happening in their local community.

National Soft Ice Cream Day gave Helen and Becca the perfect excuse to bring the ice cream parlour to the wards at Baldock Manor last week.

Staff and service users got involved in making their own ice creams, with plenty of toppings to choose from and some impressive creations along the way.

It was a simple bit of fun, but one that brought people from across the wards together, sparked plenty of conversation and, most importantly, put a lot of smiles on faces.

Not a bad way to cool down on a summer's day!

There’s nothing quite like a good summer BBQ, and the one recently held at Winnett Cottage went down very well indeed!

It gave residents and staff the chance to enjoy some good food and time together outside. With the usual BBQ cooks unavailable, new staff member Marshal stepped in to man the grill and kept everything running smoothly while everyone else tucked in.

Nothing complicated – just a relaxed summer afternoon, plenty to eat and a chance for everyone at Winnett to spend some time together away from the usual routine.

The waiting is over at Saddlers Farm… the first chick has hatched! 🐣

A few weeks ago, we shared how clients at our learning disability day centre were helping to care for a batch of eggs as they made their way through the 21-day incubation period. From carefully looking after the incubator to seeing what was happening inside the eggs during candling, there has been plenty of interest along the way.

Now all that patience has paid off, with the arrival of the first new resident!

It’s been lovely for everyone involved to follow the process from egg to chick, and hopefully this little one will soon have some brothers and sisters joining them.
