I watched something yesterday from a weather scientist who said this could be the coolest summer of our lifetime... apparently it's only going to get hotter from here. ๐Ÿฅต

It got me thinking about how much our routines around our animals have changed over the years.

Last weekend I was with my son and temperatures hit 36ยฐC. The mare and foal's field didn't have any natural shade, so the boys got creative.

Using a trailer, some moveable posts, cable ties and a roll of shade mesh, they created a simple moveable shelter that provides shade but still lets the rain through, so there's no risk of it filling with water and sagging. It also drops down at night and tucks under the trailer so if there is any wind it doesnโ€™t scare the horses ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Safe to say the mare and foal approved. โ˜€๏ธ
(For the record, my contribution was driving to the hardware store and providing moral support. ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Thereโ€™s something about a between the ears shot that just sums up why we ride.

One of the best things about todayโ€™s phones is we always have a camera on us, ready to catch moments like this one. My sonโ€™s partner sent me this just now, out hacking in the glorious weather weโ€™ve been having. Sun out, ears pricked, not a bad way to spend a morning.

It gave me an idea - you know we love to see your photos and videos, lets fill up the post with your favourite between the ears photo or video from the last week.
