ECO TRAVEL MAKES A DREAM HOLIDAY A REALITY
Guido Le Lorrain recently returned from the holiday of a lifetime which was made possible thanks to his Rehasense Eco Travel. Following neck surgery in September 2023, Guido had a fall at home which resulted in a spinal cord injury and today he can walk short distances with the aid of crutches but still uses a manual wheelchair when out and about.
It was at an Invictus Active roadshow that Guido first discovered the Rehasense range of powered add-ons when he saw the Eco Assist and he was immediately impressed. “The Eco Assist is a great piece of equipment and the new independence it gave me combined with being able to enjoy trips to the local shops and days out with my wife Zuzka and friends without anyone having to push me was great” commented Guido.
Guido and Zuzka had always dreamt of a holiday in Thailand and when they were told about the launch of the Eco Travel, they immediately placed an order. “As a wheelchair user travelling abroad can have its challenges, but the Eco Travel changes everything. The transportation case is brilliant as it completely protects the unit, and the air safe battery means the airlines have no issue with it”. Guido and Zuzka spent a week in Bangkok where they visited the Grand Palace, Icon Siam shopping mall, Space and Time Cube, the Digital Art Museum and the Chao Phraya River Hop-On Hop-Off boat, to name a but a few. This was followed by a week in Hua Hin. “It was very hot and pushing a wheelchair is no fun for anyone but with the Eco Travel, we didn’t have to worry about that, and the impressive battery range meant I only had to charge once during the entire trip.
“Both the Eco models have made a real difference to my day-to-day life. The Eco Assist is great for getting out and about around the local area and can deal with different road surfaces with ease. Thanks to the Eco Travel, going on holiday is now stress free and I also use it a lot at home as it is so lightweight and can be easily put in the car. Both models are extremely well designed, and I would certainly recommend them to other wheelchair users looking for a powered add-on to help them live more independently at home or when travelling abroad” concluded Guido.

STEVE LOVES HIS ICON 60 MANUAL WHEELCHAIR

It is becoming increasingly common for people to purchase a manual wheelchair for occasional use as their mobility starts to reduce as opposed to waiting until they need one all day every day. Steve Ashworth from Taunton is a great example of somebody who has done just that and purchased a Rehasense Icon 60 from Taunton based ARB Mobility.
In 1981, Steve lost his left leg from above the knee due to bone cancer and over the intervening years has had to overcome several serious conditions. “It is only in recent years that I’ve started to struggle with walking longer distances. I used to be able to manage most walks, but as I’ve got older the walks have become more challenging, hence the need to consider the alternatives such as occasionally using a wheelchair especially when I travel abroad” explained Steve.
“The Icon 60 is clearly well built, extremely easy to manoeuvre, very adjustable and folds down easily for transporting and storage which is great especially as I travel extensively. Whenever I need it, it has never let me down and in the last 18 months I have certainly put it through its paces with several trips to America along with trips to Canada and Norway where the off road tyres made a real difference. I would not hesitate in recommending the Rehasense Icon 60 and Alex at ARB Mobility, the Icon 60 is a great wheelchair and the service that I have received from Alex has been second to none.”

Meet George! 💙

Eight-year-old George from Essex is the youngest Eco Travel user in the UK and loves wheelchair racing & horse riding. George was born with Spina Bifida and uses a wheelchair to get around at home and at school. His mum Jenny Wakelin has always wanted him to be as independent as possible and knew a powered add-on would make this possible as George hated relying on people to push him in his manual wheelchair
With his Eco Travel, George can now explore the world on his own terms and enjoy a childhood without barriers - thanks to the great work of Richard Chiassaro & Lifestyle and Mobility

I went to Cornwall Mobility today and I had a go on one of these rolators, I can't lie at first I felt a little daft, little embarrassed too. It’s a smart bit of kit though.

I got a little carried away trying to walk round the shop with it, got dizzy, weak and tired myself right out. Lucky it's got that seat attached 😊

I didn't get one, It’s another challenge I'd need to get my head round first....

I know some of you use these, how do you find them? What's the biggest benefit you've found since starting to use one? Did you struggle with the idea of using one at first or was it an easy decision for you?

I like using my wheels and my scooter but seriously debating one of these 🧡🎗
