We're delighted to announce that our annual virtual GBS in Pregnancy and Babies Conference was a huge success .

With the GBS3 trial results expected later this year, this year’s conference came at a key moment for the group B Strep community, bringing together over 500 healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers and advocates to share knowledge, ask question and strengthen informed conversations as we look ahead ▶️

Across the day, we heard powerful lived experiences alongside expert insights on prevention, care and the latest research shaping the future. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect, learn and connect. Early feedback has been incredibly positive, with the vast majority of attendees saying they would recommend the event and would attend again (the next one will be on 19 May 2027).

A huge thank you to our speakers, attendees, sponsors and everyone involved in making the day possible. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Last month, Sally ran the London Marathon in memory of her beautiful daughter, Elsie.

When Elsie was just three days old, she became seriously ill and spent five nights in intensive care. Tragically, Elsie died as a result of group B Strep meningitis and sepsis.

Sally chose to run for Group B Strep Support to honour Elsie and help other families by raising awareness.

🩵 “Running the London Marathon is my way of remembering Elsie, while supporting a charity that means so much to our family” Sally shared.

đź’™ Thank you, Sally, for raising an incredible ÂŁ3,942.

Thinking about running the London Marathon 2027 for GBSS? Applications for a charity place close this weekend (Sunday 31 May at midnight).

Elliott had a difficult start to life after his mum, Naomi, became unwell with pre‑eclampsia during pregnancy.

After he was born, Elliott also became seriously ill with a group B Strep infection.
What should have been a joyful time quickly became frightening and overwhelming for his family. Thankfully, Elliott recovered, and was eventually able to go home with his mum đź’™

On World Pre‑eclampsia Day, we’re sharing Elliott’s story to highlight how pregnancy and birth complications can overlap, and why awareness, support and clear information matter so much.

It was a very special moment for GBSS last week. Jane Plumb, our CEO, attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, following a nomination from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists RCOG. She was there with her husband Robert, who co‑founded the charity with her in 1996.

It was a moment that belongs to all of us. GBSS has always been about a community - families, clinicians, researchers and supporters - all working to stop group B Strep infection in babies and to support those affected.

We’re proud of what’s been built together and grateful to everyone who’s part of it ✨
