Grooming Gangs Inquiry - Health Records and Information Governance event

Further to our post last week regarding this event in Exeter, we would like to let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to move the event date from Thursday 16 July to Tuesday 21 July 2026, we are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

We have also taken on board some comments from people who are a long distance away from Exeter as to whether we could make this a hybrid event and provide an online feed as well. Our preference would always be to see people face to face in the same room but accept that some people may not be able travel.

We have also taken on board comments that part of this inquiry will be about disclosing information as well, so we are extending this to our IG colleagues.

We are inviting you to join us in a Roundtable event in Exeter on Thursday 16th July at the Mercure Hotel; this is a free event to attend.

This event is being hosted by Restore, SynApps and FEDIP to discuss the Impact of the Grooming Gangs Inquiry on health records and the challenge that this poses, as well as discussing the recent NHS England announcement about expected professional registration.

Lunch and networking have been included giving those attending an opportunity to talk to other like-minded colleagues. As this is a Roundtable event, the numbers have been limited to 20, so this is strictly on a first come first served basis.

The Role of a Clinical Terminologist Webinar - Thursday 30th April 2026 - 12:00 - 13:00

SNOMED CT is the most comprehensive clinical health terminology in the world and is supported by a growing international community. It is a common language for health and is used across different IT systems, healthcare settings, and countries. Therefore, it plays a significant role as a common reference in supporting the exchange of health information. However, despite this importance, the contributions of terminologists remain underrecognised and poorly understood across the wider NHS.

In this session, we will address the role of the clinical terminologist and why it needs wider recognition and professional support. Attendees will gain an understanding of the structure, capabilities, and benefits of a clinical terminology, and walk through some typical tasks involved in maintaining and using large healthcare ontologies.
