No matter the Medicine, chronic pain can be a lonely place.

Seeing a few lines of text or a couple of words from someone that understands or having the strength to contribute to a small chat can really make a big difference to someone that has minimal contact with others in a day filled with pain.

Hebden Bridge Chronic Pain Collective is a space to connect and feel safe. Learn, let it out and grow into something healthy and strong.

As Chronic pain sufferers we are isolated enough due to our pain and energy levels.
We are constantly bombarded or looking for the cure for our pain.

At a time when we need it most the thought of human contact exhausts us even more and increases the pain.
The idea of alternative medical options should bring us together in discussion and hope not checking our bank accounts and giving us anxiety.

I know to a level, we are all willing to try anything to stop the pain. But we don’t have to face that pain alone.

Follow us as we develop groups from this page to engage in more, connection, communications, medications, events and learning.

The Vicious Cycle of Chronic Pain can be a lonely place.
At a time when we need people the most we can feel more alone and cut off than ever.
This is when our focus can become stuck on our chronic pain and keep us stuck in a loop of pain and isolation.

Cannabinoids like THC & CBD bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the central nervous system dampening central pain signals, impacting the loop by disrupting pain signals lowering baseline pain intensity which can help reduce the physical barriers preventing social engagement.

Next the endocannabinoid system heavily populates the limbic system, the brain's emotional epicentre. This helps modulates the body's cortisol and stress responses.
Chronic isolation breeds social anxiety and psychological distress. Medical cannabis can act as an anxiolytic, taking the edge off the nervous anticipation of re-entering social settings.

Now Clinical observations show that cannabis often alters the relationship to pain rather than erasing it entirely. Patients frequently report that while the pain is still present, it "bothers" us significantly less.
Now by reducing the emotional panic associated with a flare-up, individuals are less inclined to immediately withdraw or cancel social plans out of fear.

We don’t have to suffer alone and be misunderstood, let’s stand together and support each other.
Let’s heal and grow together.
