The jaws that drop when I share Hester | York | into the inbetween story make me chuckle 🤭

A women who had to courage to ask for she needed & wanted at the 11th hour and go out if her way to do the thing most women aren’t willing to do:

Stand up for themselves and take audacious action to get she wanted ✌🏻 *it’s why I love her 😜

When Hannah Campbell | Doula & Coach for Powerful Women text me to ask I was at the cinema with my kids watching the Minecraft movie for the 3rd time and on paper didn’t really think it could work, but then I remembered who the F* I am and that women who do crazy s**z like drop 5 figures on what could have been 24hrs if care are my kinda gals I just knew it was meant to be!

Add in supporting alongside the doula of dreams 😆💋 and it was gonna be life changing for more than just Hester as we leaned into the unknown together and did things in ways we haven’t before (facials & relaxations are the Elite Power induction method apparently 🤣)!

But in all seriousness, Hester’s birth taught me that women know truly & deeply what they need, but it’s the ones who go out and get it that I’m here for 💪🏻

& to now see Hester | York | into the inbetween making waves of change for others reminds me that birth care doesn’t end with a baby and placenta or when we pack down the pool, it’s life long & transformation!!

& if that’s the legacy I’m curating…I will forever be here for that ✌🏻

Working less in 2027 so don’t leave it till 43 weeks to get booked in 😆

You KNOW deep down in your soul the current sh*t and American next top Midwife (I mean model 🤣) tabloid drama just isn’t the one ✌🏻

So you step up to the adventure with a winning smile & knowledge bank that even Tyra couldn’t compete for 😜 & it’s her bloody surname babe 😆

Feels seen, not camera shine & want the hair toss moment (even if it’s in a birth pool with forehead stringy hair and a sweaty upper lip…. )

The hilarity of the comments passed, the looks between the team and the reminder that birth is supposed to be joyous and can be comical too ✌🏻

To all the women I’ve witnessed this summer thanks for the fun, thanks for the moments of uncontrolled laughter, thanks for the one-liners that will help us encourage birthing women in months to come!

The current modern maternity system that offers a place of ‘care’ is built on a questionable set of understandings about the birthing body.

At it’s very core, from teaching to technology, it believes that you as a unique and beautiful individual need to be put on a pathway towards being rescued and delivered from this glorifying process you are capable of.

It scares us, because itself is operating from@a place of fear.

The people working daily in a fear state are frying their nervous system over and over again because they believe birth needs to be medically managed, not because at their core that’s what they understand, but because they have been trained and moulded to see that as truth 🫣

So it’s very much in your favour to sit with this, understand and accept this as they reality of pregnancy care in 2026 and then make some beautiful decisions to read, learn, unlearn and use that knowledge for your powerful choices.

Oh & hire a doula ✌🏻

I didn’t arrive at independent midwifery by accident.
It’s deep in my history, remember the midwives refused to obey!

I grew up in a Salvation Army, a movement of extraordinary revolutionaries!

My parents are officers!

Long before I held my first baby, I was watching my family show up for people the world had written off-with no agenda other than service.

That’s the bones of who I am. A mission maker, a mover, a chaos creator!

And those bones are rattled right now 💪🏻

Because women are being failed.
Not just dramatically.
Not always obviously.
Quietly & sadly Systematically.

Through policies that remove choice without announcement or compassionate consideration!

Through a maternity system built on compliance, not care. Through independent midwives and birth workers being pushed out of the picture, not because they’re unsafe, but because they’re inconvenient to a structure that was never designed around women in the first place.

That’s not clinical. That’s political. And that makes it’s personal.

My background has taught me one thing above everything else: the people most harmed by broken systems are the ones with the least power to challenge them.& right now that feels like very women who we serve & those serving!

Pregnant women deserve better than this! Midwives deserve better than this!

YPM was built on the same foundation I was - the belief that showing up for someone, properly, completely, without judgement, is never wasted.

So.

While women weep-I’ll fight.
