🤱 Here are important things to avoid while breastfeeding:
🤱 Be aware that what you eat and drink can affect your breast milk. If you have concerns, consult your health visitor or GP.
🤱 It's best to steer clear of caffeine. Found in not just tea and coffee but also energy drinks, chocolate, and soft drinks, caffeine is a stimulant that may make your baby restless.
🤱 If you need to take painkillers, ibuprofen and paracetamol are safe options, but avoid aspirin.
🤱 Alcohol is best avoided, although an occasional drink won’t harm, provided breastfeeding is well-established. To minimize the impact, wait 2-3 hours after drinking before breastfeeding or express milk beforehand so your baby can take it from a bottle.
🤱 Limit oily fish to 2 portions weekly, and restrict shark, swordfish, and marlin to just 1 portion each week due to their high mercury content.
Following these tips will help keep your baby safe during breastfeeding, allowing you both to enjoy this journey together.
