We know it’s sitting in everyone’s bathroom cabinet and feels like the answer to everything… but fresh PMU is one of the few things we really don’t want Vaseline going near 👇🏼

1. It traps heat, sweat & bacteria - Vaseline creates a thick barrier over the skin which can trap sweat, lymph fluid, heat and bacteria against a fresh tattooed area while it’s trying to heal. Not ideal for freshly treated brows, lips or liner.

2. It can make the area too wet - PMU needs controlled healing, not dried out, but definitely not soggy either. Too much Vaseline can over-moisturise the skin, soften scabs too much and lead to patchy healing.

3. It can affect pigment retention - When the skin stays too moist or overloaded with product, pigment can lift out more easily during the healing process. This is why most PMU artists recommend a specialist aftercare balm in very small amounts instead.

4. It can clog the skin - Especially around the brows, Vaseline can feel greasy and heavy, potentially clogging follicles and causing bumps or breakouts, particularly on oily or acne-prone skin.

This is exactly why we’re so particular about aftercare recommendations. The products you use while healing can genuinely impact your final healed results, pigment retention and overall skin recovery… so if in doubt, just ask your artist before putting anything on the area 🙌🏼

Also it’s Petroleum why on earth would anyone be putting it on their skin 🤢
