Today is World Oceans Day 🌊 🩵

Did you know? Cornwall has 422 miles of coastline - the longest of any English county! The sea isn’t a backdrop to life here, it’s part of it... Which is why protecting our oceans has always felt deeply personal to us as a Cornish brand.

The facts are hard to ignore: oceans produce at least half of the world’s oxygen, absorb nearly a third of the carbon dioxide we produce and are home to the vast majority of life on earth. What happens to them matters to all of us.

At Inlight Beauty, eco-friendly practices have always been part of how we work. Our formulations are certified organic and entirely biodegradable - meaning nothing that leaves our products and enters our waterways will linger or cause damage.

This June, we’re focusing on our Men’s range. So, what makes the biology of the male skin barrier different?

While all skin shares the same basic structure, male physiology presents a unique set of challenges. On average, testosterone ensures that male skin is approximately 25% thicker than female skin. While this provides a rugged resilience, it also comes with a higher density of sebaceous glands. This increased oil production makes men more prone to persistent congestion and deeper-set inflammation.

The daily ritual of shaving further complicates this biology. Each pass of a blade acts as a form of physical exfoliation, often stripping away the acid mantle - the thin, protective film on the skin’s surface. When this barrier is compromised, moisture escapes (trans-epidermal water loss) and environmental pollutants enter.

This is why a targeted oil-based approach is so effective; unlike water-based creams that can sit on the surface, bio-active oils mimic the skin’s natural sebum, penetrating the thicker dermis to repair the barrier from within without clogging the pores.
