❓🥑Are you getting in your healthy fats this week?

⭐Here’s a quick & easy way to get yours in first thing in the morning: add 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed to your breakfast.

🥚Add it to eggs, yoghurt, a smoothie, peanut butter – pretty much anything you want!

🔥 Flaxseeds are a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids, plus they contain fibre, which is good for digestive health.

WED 17/6/26 WEEKLY RECIPE: POTATOES & TURNIP WITH SAGE BROWN BUTTER

🌿🥔Try this one with baby red potatoes … sweet potatoes … or butternut squash! Thanks to the sage, it tastes like the holidays/Christmas. 😋

✅ It’s super simple to put together: Just boil the potatoes with half of the sage, and just before it’s time to serve, make the sage brown butter.

Ingredients:
(Makes 6 servings)
● 1 lb (450 grams) baby red potatoes, diced
● 2 medium turnips, peeled and diced
● 3 cloves of garlic
● 16 fresh sage leaves, divided (cut 8 into strips)
● 2 tbsp grass-fed butter
● Dash nutmeg
● 1 tsp sea salt
● ½ tsp coarsely cracked pepper

Method:
Put the potatoes, turnips, garlic, and 8 sage leaves in a medium saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the saucepan, and simmer until the vegetables are fork-tender, about 12-15 minutes. Drain and return the vegetables to the pan. Keep covered.

Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium-high heat. When it starts to turn light brown, stir in the sage strips, which will flavor the butter. Continue to saute (making sure the butter doesn’t burn!) for about 60 to 90 seconds.

Pour the butter-sage mixture over the potatoes and turnips, and mash using a fork or potato masher. Add the salt and pepper. Serve!

❓When you think of the sage, what comes to mind?

🦃 Turkey, sausage, and stuffing … Thanksgiving/Christmas … or “smudging” or “cleansing” a room or other area?

⭐️ Sage is well-known for many things … but did you know it also has a lot of nutritional benefits?

It’s part of the mint family and contains important plant compounds, vitamins, and minerals.

🔥 Sage contains more than 160 polyphenols that act as antioxidants in your body.

🧠 It can help support brain health and potentially reduce your risk of developing certain types of cancer. It has antimicrobial properties that can discourage dental plaque, and it may even improve memory and brain function!

Not only that, but it may help improve cholesterol levels AND it has been used in traditional medicine to help ease the symptoms of menopause.

✅ In addition to adding it to recipes, you can make sage tea by steeping 1-2 tsp of sage in hot water.
