Well that was different to usual tasks .. today we built a gantry ! Can’t say there was anything resembling elf and safety but we didn’t die and no muscles were pulled! The sun shone and everything went mostly to plan .. gotta love a pallet and a pick up !

‘Brown post’ alert … I want to recognise the amazing job Jess has done in the tunnels this year, specially her management of the tomatoes, its been so hot and the balancing act of watering, picking, defoliation and general tidying in the relentless heat has been such a challenge, she’s never complained, not once and done so many extra hours at odd times to avoid the heat ! and now, because of her dogged hard work we are still picking enough to fill the shop and for me to make a lot of winter sauce for the freezer. If you’ve been lucky enough to enjoy our tomatoes this summer ( the sunshine has made them specially good) please do thank Jess if you see her in the shop. It’s been a labour of Hercules!
Now I have to decide when to take them all out .. the space is needed for spring time rununculas .. and they will need to go out in two or three weeks time to get roots down and establish before it’s too cold. But what a year they’ve had ! Not a speck of blight either…

Welcome to our lovely little farm shop in Henley-On-Thames!

We stock organic fruit and vegetables, local milk & eggs, Flower bouquets, sourdough bread, cakes & treats, honey and apple juice…. and over the weekends we bake french pastries, english muffins, doughnuts & 8grain bread!

Haven’t posted for a while. We’ve been taking some deep breaths after the heat and all the sadness and great joys of the summer .. and now the season starts to shift. The sky is a saturated blue and the mornings misty, the dahlias have a lovely long vase life and the squash are fat with stored sunshine. The runner beans which have struggled are having a second wind and the borlottis which have loved the endless warm days are laden with their pink flecked pods. A lot of our produce is heading to Orwells Restaurant for their new ( incredible value) lunch menu .. you’ve got to check out their vegetable penne.. and the farm shop is groaning with our delicious tomatoes, home grown onions and garlic and a million beautiful flowers .. I’ve filled the big green pot with the brightest pinks I could find in the dahlia patch and they alone are worth a visit !! So pop along today or stop on your way back from the show tomorrow and support your local grower. The produce we sell speaks for itself. It’s all delicious and all grown without chemicals. It supports wildlife and the environment as a whole .. what we do is important .. and we can only do it because of you ! Thank you x

Making ‘funeral lasagnes’ in my beautiful summer kitchen.
Many of you will know that my wonderful Daddy suddenly checked out a couple of weeks ago. I’m not telling you looking for a whole load of sympathy (because life goes on and we are all massively thankful for every day that we did have and the beautifully scripted departure) … but because if things are a bit more chaotic than usual this week it’s because we are celebrating his awesomeness on Thursday ( 11 am at Hambleden church) and while I’m making all sorts of plans to reduce any c**k ups … you’ll understand if the wheels wobble a bit or god forbid .. fall off !! Things should be back to normal … (for business purposes .. but will never be quite the same for us .. ) by Friday. And if any of my lovely customers who chatted with him/ got to know him while he pottered about with his boat over the last 6 years would like to come .. you are so so welcome.

The shop is full of beautiful things, gorge bright dahlias. Single stems and bunches, lots of tasty garden veg .. those tomatoes …. Delicious!
Nell has been busy baking and there is, as always, bread ! Happy Saturday Bosley Patch people !
