Tonight, millions of people went to bed just as they had the night before.

Families said goodnight.
People made plans for tomorrow.
Children went to sleep believing the world was safe.
People went about their ordinary lives, unaware that by tomorrow, everything would feel different.
Then came 11 September 2001.

A day that changed the world forever.
So many lives were lost. So many families were changed forever. And countless people carried the impact of that day for years that followed.

It’s a reminder that life can change in an instant — and that the ordinary moments we sometimes take for granted are incredibly precious.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives, those who lost loved ones, and all those who showed extraordinary courage and compassion in the face of unimaginable circumstances.
We remember. We honour. We will never forget. 🕊️

A brilliant campaign, well done all involved.

A brilliant campaign, well done all involved.

We're proud to announce the launch of a new mental health awareness campaign from Herefordshire Mind, supported by Herefordshire Council, Hereford Pubwatch, and a range of local mental health support organisations.

Over 20,000 specially designed beer mats have now been distributed to more than 60 pubs, bars and social clubs across Hereford City, helping to put vital mental health information directly into the hands of people where they meet, socialise and connect.

Each beer mat provides discreet signposting to local and national support services, including Herefordshire Mind, We Are Farming Minds, Andys Man Club Hereford, Hereford Men's Mental Health group, Men Walking and Talking, SHOUT , and NHS 111, as well as a QR code linking to a wider range of mental health resources.

Our message is clear: it doesn't matter to us who you contact, just reach out to someone.

Alongside the beer mats, venues have been provided with our new su***de prevention resource, "Ask. Assess. Act." This simple flowchart has been created to help bar staff and community venue teams recognise when someone may be experiencing a mental health crisis and give them the confidence to respond appropriately, just as they would in a physical health emergency.

The resource encourages staff to:

✅ Ask direct and supportive questions
✅ Assess the situation, just as they would any physical health emergency
✅ Act by seeking emergency support or signposting to available services

This campaign is about making support more visible, accessible and easier to find. It's not about replacing professional services, but helping communities feel empowered to start conversations, offer support and know where to turn when it matters most.

A huge thank you to all our partners and participating venues for helping us bring this important initiative to life and supporting su***de prevention across Herefordshire.

World Su***de Prevention Day – 10th September

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, a day to remind us that talking about su***de can save lives.

At Elgar Care, seven out of 10 office members wear an Orange Button.

Two office members of our staff are Herefordshire Mind ambassadors.

Our team has been trained to recognise when someone may be struggling and, importantly, to ask the question that can sometimes feel impossible to ask: “Are you thinking about su***de?”

We know that asking about su***de doesn’t put the idea into someone’s head. Sometimes, simply giving someone the opportunity to talk can be the first step towards getting the help and support they need.

One conversation could make a difference. One question could save a life.

If you’re struggling, please talk to someone. You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable before asking for help.

Today we’re celebrating an incredible achievement and saying a very special goodbye to one of our wonderful care assistants, Ellie.

After working with Elgar Care while studying for her law degree, she is taking the next exciting step in her career—training to become a solicitor!

We couldn’t be prouder of everything she has achieved. She has shown that with hard work, determination, and a clear goal, you really can achieve your dreams.

Although we’re sad to see her leave our Elgar Care family, we’re incredibly excited to see where her new career takes her.

Congratulations on your law degree, and good luck with your solicitor training! We know you’re going to be amazing.

Once part of the Elgar Care team, always part of the Elgar Care family.

You know you work in care when…

☕ You can make a cup of tea in 47 different ways.

🚗 Your car or bike knows every road in Herefordshire.

📝 You have a hundred things in your head at once.

You’ve heard the same story 20 times — and happily listen to it again.

And you wouldn't change the people you care for, for the world.

Our carers… we salute you! 👏

For all of our wonderful care staff!

You start each day with caring hands,
With kindness, strength and heart,
You step into another’s world,
And play an important part.

A smile, a chat, a helping hand,
A cup of tea, a listening ear,
The little things you do each day
Can mean the world to those you care.

You bring comfort when days are hard,
You celebrate the moments bright,
You give your time, your patience too,
And make a difference day and night.

You don’t just care for someone,
You become a trusted friend,
A familiar face, a helping hand,
Someone they know they can depend.

So today we say THANK YOU

For everything you do,
For putting people first each day,
And always seeing things through.

Because care isn't just a job,
It comes from the heart inside —
And we are incredibly proud
To have you by our side.

Caring with HEART every single day!

Supporting Herefordshire Mind

Today, Lisa—one of Herefordshire Mind’s proud ambassadors—has been out and about in Hereford, helping to support their important su***de prevention resources around Hereford today.

These resources will form part of a new initiative launching on World Su***de Prevention Day on the 10th of September.

Sometimes simply knowing where to turn and who to talk to can make all the difference.

❤️ What a morning we’ve had! ❤️

Today, Tracey, Alexis and Jess headed off to Oakerwood Leisure with our friends at Herefordshire Means Business to celebrate their 10th birthday! 🎉🥳

And what a way to celebrate 10 years! We enjoyed laser clay shooting, tree climbing and a zip wire — 🙈 Jess you really are our star shooter.

There were lots of laughs, a few nervous moments 😬 and plenty of encouragement for each other. We honestly loved every minute of it! 🥰

A huge Happy 10th Birthday to HMBIZ! 🎂🎈

Thank you for such a brilliant morning and for bringing local businesses together over the last 10 years. We’re so proud to be part of the HMBIZ community and can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings! 🥰

Now for the important question… who actually enjoyed the 50ft tree climb and who was secretly terrified?! 😂🤣Well done Alexis and Jess for reaching the top, Tracey managed about half way.

🎂💙 When your team becomes a cake…! 💙🎂

Just look at this absolute masterpiece! 😍

Our wonderful Sophie made this incredible cake for us in the office, and we honestly couldn't love it more! 🥹❤️

She has gone the extra mile and put the Elgar Care office team on the cake, along with our logo. It really is so personal and such a thoughtful thing to do. 🥰

It really is the thought and effort that goes into things like this that makes our Elgar Care family so special. Sophie, we honestly don't know how you find the time, but we're very glad you do! 😂🍰❤️

We are so lucky to have you! Thank you for putting so much thought, time and love into making something so special for us all.

And yes… after staring at ourselves on a cake for long enough, we eventually decided we should probably eat it! 😂🎂

We absolutely love it! 💙❤️
