We’re very pleased to announce that Barry, who is supported by us at Aspire, is a finalist for the Breaking Down Barriers Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards! 🏆

Barry was nominated for this award through his hard work at reducing stigmas and increasing awareness of learning disabilities in his local community through selling eggs and kindling in a hut he built in his driveway.

Previously, members of their local community were a bit unsure how to approach and speak to Barry and housemates because they weren’t sure what to expect. Now, Barry and his housemates have a fantastic, neighbourly relationship with the local community, where they feel accepted and valued. 🫶

Ahead of the awards, he had a photoshoot and we bet you can all agree he’s looking very smart.

Barry will be attending the Learning Disability and Autism Awards on Friday so we hope you join us in wishing him the best of luck!

Our passion is providing the very best support to people with learning disabilities - in their own home, in the local community, close to their family and friends.

We are looking for a Deputy Support Manager who will assist the Support Manager to lead a team that improves the lives of people with learning disabilities every day. This role is based in the community and being a driver is an essential requirement.

Since the start of January this year, we have been using the recycling service Pedicargo in three of our locations!

In just three months, the impact we have made has been massive, including:

🚗 Vehicles miles offset: 7,277.49
📱 Smart phone charges offset: 287,725
🌳 Trees planted: 27.25
💨 CO2e (kg) savings: 1,602.97
📈 Social return on investment (SROI) into Hereford’s local economy: £831.64
