Neurodivergent-Aware Soft Tissue Therapy
Massage does not have to be “one size fits all”.
Some clients need a different approach to soft tissue therapy, especially when there is a combination of:
▫️ADHD, autism or AuDHD
▫️Hypermobility
▫️Sensory sensitivity
▫️Chronic muscle tension
▫️Poor proprioception/body awareness
▫️Nervous system overwhelm
▫️Feeling tight but also unstable
▫️Difficulty fully relaxing during treatment
For some people, firm pressure is calming.
For others, it can feel too much.
Some clients need less talking.
Some need more explanation.
Some need careful positioning to protect hypermobile joints.
Some need slower work before their body feels safe enough to soften.
At Amber Louise Massage, treatment is adapted to the individual.
This may include:
▫️Slower, calmer treatment
▫️Pressure adapted to sensory needs
▫️Clear communication before and during treatment
▫️Supported positioning for comfort and joint safety
▫️Gentler work around sensitive or reactive areas
▫️Clinical soft tissue techniques used with care
▫️Aftercare that is realistic and manageable
As someone who is AuDHD and hypermobile myself, this is an area I care deeply about. I understand how different touch, pressure, sound, light, positioning and communication can feel when the nervous system is already working hard.
This is not about forcing muscles to “release”.
It is about helping the body feel safer, calmer and better supported.
